Why am I sad??? And why does this have to be 20 characters long???

Question

I feel so depressed that just about all of my contacts from a few months ago are no longer on. Why would they leave without saying goodbye?? Don't they know they are missed??

Why do I care about people I never met?? And where could they have gone???

This is not chatting. I seriously would like an answer that will help me, and cheer me up.

And report trolls, I'm really upset, and I want an answer.

I know how you feel, it seems so many of the regulars are away.  It's not the same without them is it?  It's nice to see you though.

It's always funny, seeing comments like that from people who are actually utilizing the Internet themselves and taking advantage of communities like this one here.

Jesus, this is the internet.  That means that a contact is just that, a contact.  Not a friend.  Chill out, find somewhere else to chat or something instead.

People like you who get like this over internet stuff freak me out.

Yes i feel the same way, i met someone on a chat room who was the sweetest caring person and they promised they would be online but i never saw them again, now i wish i had there email. dont worry im sure theres a reason.

Poor baby.  I know what you mean.  So many of my buddies from the beginning are gone and I don't know where they are.  

This is a great place in some ways, but hellish in others.  The report nuts make things extremely difficult.

Cheer up honey, there are still some way cool people around.

The last contact I had disappeared without a trace recently. It made me sad, so I know how you feel. You care about people you never met because you are of good nature, it's how you are put together. Most go to the Yahoo Answers graveyard due to ambiguous rules, and the manipulation of the system. I hope this answer helps, its not really a very cheerful answer but it is how I see things.

Because some of them dont have the opportunity to say goodbye.  I think you know why

They wake up one morning and when they try to log-on, they get the "oops" message and an email waiting telling them, in one form of words, that some loser has taken offence and over-reacted to one of their posts.

I suspect that most of your contacts are really still here.  But like you, using a different name to before.

I understand the sadness and the depression. We make friends here and expect to be treated with the same respect as if it were an "in person" friendship (as opposed to an online friendship). What I don't like is when someone who I communicate with outside of Answers changes his/her screen name here...it not only confuses me but makes me wonder if he/she is trying to avoid me or dog me.

I think we need to find strength within ourselves, Butters, to stand alone on our own. We need to treat each friendship as special but also as if today will be the last day we'll have it. If we don't expect that friend to be there tomorrow, it will keep us from being disappointed and hurt when it happens.

Butters, I am sorry to hear about your sadness and depression.  However, I think you should step away from the puter and go out and meet some REAL people to develop real friendships with.  It is not normal or natural to be upset about people that you have not even met or even seen or know if they are real, imaginary or what.  You should develop some relationships with people your age that are interested in the same things that you are.  Good Luck and try to to be upset.  Your sad for all the wrong reasons.

Awww, I'm sorry Butters!  I, like you, care about alot of the people on Y/A because even though I've never actually MET them, they are very much people I consider "friends."  Who knows where they went, I hear that alot of the people get fed up with violations and reporting trolls and simply quit.  Maybe they know that they're missed, maybe they don't, why not try to email them just to say hello!  {{{{{{BUTTERS}}}}}}}}}
