Why am I smarter when i smoke weed?

im 14 and i smoke weed (get over it plz). And when i do i can understand alot of things like the way our bodie's work, why people do certain things, how alot of technology works and how history has bent and curved to what it is today. Is this strange? Because im actually very stupid when im not high, allways have been!

Since you know much more than the rest of us, you don't need to read about the folks I've known who knew without a shadow of a doubt that they could use and function at a high level.  Every one of these folks were suffering from screwed up thinking after years of use, attending NA meetings, living on low income from low end jobs, telling any and all who would listen how they wished they'd never used the stuff in the first place.  You'll be there before long.  Just keep doing what you are doing.

Weed is not for 14 year olds-ask your parents to take you to a psychiatric unit and see the weed related damage that has been done to young people who think they are getting high-schizophrenia, psychoses for example.-so my dear child-i suggest YOU get over it plz.

Do you understand it, or do you *think* you understand it? Weed can produce that sort of effect. The other and nicer possibility is that you have some understanding of which you aren't aware of or are suppressing. Pot can open access to parts of the brain of which we aren't normally aware. For example, an amateur musician I knew told me once that when she used some hash once she was able to see the score in front of her, something she'd never been able to do. Knowing this stuff is there, you can try to learn to get to them when you're straight.

PS -- I see Doc T's ideas correspond to my own, and he pointed to a reason why pot might help you with this stuff, e.g., that you aren't very stupid at all, but just convinced that you are or haven't much used that part of your brain, and pot is opening it up for you. If so, you can learn to access it without the pot.

E-boy...  that is just seriously sad... that you think you are smarter when high.  You do realize that pot alters your perceptions... and since THC stays in your system for awhile, I would expect your academic achievements should have improved with all this pot smoking.  If not, then two things are likely true...  1)  you are no more or less intelligent when high than when not high, you only "feel" like your smarter, and 2) your lack of confidence ( "I'm actually very stupid") is likely dictating your academic achievement more than anything else.

If you know it when your high, you know it when your not.  You are not very stupid.  What is stupid is thinking smoking pot makes you smarter.  It heightens your senses.  It does not make you more intelligent.  You are 14, leave the drugs alone.  There are better ways to boost your self confidence.

Okay, you aren't really smarter when you are high. You just THINK you are. Your perceptions are altered and you have that 100 percent sure feeling that you actually ARE smarter, but you're NOT.

The effects of weed can vary from person to person. It sounds like this "smart" feeling is an effect of the drug's stimulation of certain chemicals in your brain. (Weed sends a chemical called THC into your body's systems. THC messes with these receptors in your brain. A lot of these receptors are near the part of your brain that deals with memory.)

Ironically, research on people who smoke weed has shown that the drug can actually make you DUMBER. People who smoked weed showed a decline in IQ and damage to their ability to retain information.

I really hope you get help, because whether you see it that way or not, you DO have a PROBLEM. The only thing that could really make you "stupid when you're not high" is choosing to continue to get high again. Please make the right choice. And hang in there. Best wishes.
