Why am I so unhealthy?! HELP!?

So I can't go more than 2 months without getting sick, I catch colds very often. I admit that I'm a pretty out of shape/lazy person and I usually spend most of my time sitting around infront of the computer or TV. At work I spend about 5 hours standing 5-6 days out of the week. At home, theres always a window open so I always have fresh air (when its not too cold).

I'm female

I'm 5'8, 110 lbs (I have a healthy weight, I'm pretty skinny)

Other people in my family only get sick couple times a year

When I was younger I used to do gymnastics almost everyday and was very active, and I don't recal getting sick as often. I know I have a weak immune system, so can anybody give me some suggestions to strengthen my immune system, become more active, and be more in shape without causing me to loose any weight?

Thanks =)

  1. One of my friends is about as thin as you and gets sick often also. Try getting at least 8 hours of sleep at night. You need to get enough sleep to be healthy. Eat healthy foods that boost your immune system. Try getting enough nutrients from all the food groups and try going for walks when you have the time.

  2. Eat more protein when you exercise, chocolate milk after exercising is good, peanut butter, or protein shakes. Do activities you like. Some good exercises to start off could be a dance class, ride a bike, volunteer to walk dogs at a local animal shelter, help out with Habitat for Humanity, buy a dance dvd and do it in your living room, take a walk with a friend and get to know each more, do sit ups, push ups, or jump rope during commercials, etc. By the way, it is proof that people who are more active and eat healthier get sicker less.

  3. Are you eating enough vegetables and salad, good fats?

  4. I don't think you have a serious problem which requires medical help.  To bunch back into Fuller life, you need to change your social life. I used to spend several hours in front of the TV  and I was very unhappy to the point that I almost committed suicide.  I decided to get rid of the TV,  read more books, visit art galleries, go to the theatre or cinema, cycling or walking in the wood or forest or if you live by the sea or river. A very basic and inexpensive  adjustments really change my life. An I am sure it will change yours too. From what you said that you used to be very active when you were young, your unhappiness is the result of guilty consciouses. Deep down you know that you should be doing something, but the TV is keeping you a prisoner, beak free from it and be fulfilled.  Good luck.
