Question:

Why am I spam?

In some of my groups, ones that I've been a member of for ages, I'm suddenly being dumped into the spam folders - the list moms/group owners try to change my membership, I've tried unsubbing, etc. But I am not able to post to many of my groups anymore, unless I do so from the group site, or unless the list mom remembers to check the spam folder. Frustrating - some of my messages are days or weeks late due to this, or just never do show up.

How do I change, or how do I get the list moms to change, my status so I'm not reported as spam anymore???

  1. the spam filter is completely defective. you're not the only one who gets snagged in it either. as stated in the first answer, you cant do anything about it but the owners can. if they are moderating new members posts, there really is no need for the spam filter to be on. if the owners keep it on, they really need to be active in checking it.

sometimes the subject lines send it there, some times the e-mail address alone will do it. often there is no rhyme or reason at all.

I also have members who continously get caught in the spam filter- I keep it on as a example to yahoo that it doesn't work!

  2. The only thing you can do is ask the group owner/moderators to mark your messages in the spam folder as Not Spam.  If they have a big problem with good messages getting caught in the spam filter, they can turn off the spam filter.  Some owners do not know how to turn it off.  You could "gently" advise them how to do that:

    Click Management

    Under Group Settings, click "Messages".

To the right of Posting and Archives, click Edit.

In the Spam Filtering column, select "Off".

    Click Save changes.
