Am I just lazy? It's not like I'm not looking, and when I do get a job I work hard, but I still never keep it for very long.

Hear me out, I swear it's a valid point.

In corporate America, people are terrified of losing their jobs right now. When you come along, bright-eyed, hard-working, enthusiastic, and charismatic... what does your boss think? I'd be willing to bet that it isn't, "We really oughta give this guy a promotion! He's a great asset to our team!"

Here's what they're thinking: "Oh my God. What if my supervisor thinks he's better at this than I am? I could lose my job! He might be promoted above me! I'm screwed... I'm SO screwed... Don't panic. DON'T PANIC. Drive him to quit! That's it! That'll protect my job!"

Try and tell me you haven't seen this happen.
