Why am I still slicing off the tee? Im making sure to rotate my hands and keep my club face straight for a good release but Im still slicing...the only thing I can think of that I might be doing is swinging inward at the ball. How can I develop a consistantly straight swing?

  1. One simple thing that you can try to make sure that you are not swinging inward is to visualize hitting a baseball.  Try to imagine hitting a line drive over the second baseman's head.  This will make you keep your arms tucked and your hands extended out along the target line.  Fixed my slice and even has helped to promote a slight right to left draw.  It is quick and easy.  Give it a shot and if that doesn't work, try going to somewhere like Golf Galaxy and having your swing analyzed.  The can be very helpful if the problem is more than just one thing.

  2. Take a video camera to the driving range and have someone photograph your swing from different angles. You should be able to see the reason better than anyone can tell you here.

For most golfers that nagging slice, especially off the tee, is due to a dropping shoulder. It's a natural tendency when you try to get that little bit of extra power.

Spend more time on the range. If you have to think about your swing while you do it --It won't be right. Once you start to swing it HAS to be automatic.

  3. try rotating your forearms not your hands....that may be part of the problem, aslo try to make sure you are set up properly, a bad address can spell disaster down the range....and try getting a lesson or 2 too

  4. This will work for an out to in swing.

I've given this advice to MANY people and it really works

Hold a thin magazine under your right arm (right handed golfer) and take a normal swing.  Make sure that magazine doesn't fall out from your armpit and it'll keep your right arm tucked in and you shouldn't be able to swing out to in.

    Go try it!!!!

  5. First off, you shouldnt have to 'rotate your hands' in a golf swing, it should happen automatically with the right swing.

Secondly, pay attention where your balls starts off. Swing plane determines where your balls starts, club face determines where it finishes.

Does your ball start left, right, or straight. If it starts off right or straight(target line), then you dont come over the top.

From there your face HAS to be open. A simple fix would be to strengthen your grip a little.

Most off all, just about every slicer I have ever worked with has a weak weight transfer .. usually leading to the open face. If your body is behind in the swing the face will remain open during impact. Make sure all weight is getting to your left side during the swing.

Since we have to guess on here what the problem is .. I would say you get to the top of your swing in a decent position, then release your hip as the first move of your downswing ...... try starting the downswing with your hands going downward before you release your hips ... then once the hands are moving down .. relase the hips.

    Hope this helps.

I have a couple videos about slicing on my website you should check out.

  6. practice practice practice

  7. ur hips are probably getting ahead of the club.  stay as straight as possible

  8. put your left foot forward 2 inches or so if you start hooking the ball move it back a bit untill you start hitting straight, having that foot way out in front  is gonna force you to swing in to out or straight through , you will adjust automatically so you dont hit your foot

  9. If the "item under the right arm" doesn't work you may need a more flexible shaft.
