Okay I'm not as naive as some and I know there are successful black people in the world who aren't loud and obnoxious and as people say "ghetto." Just because I talk properly, wear nice clothes, live in a nice neighborhood, don't hang out with all african american people, why am I not "black enough"? I am constantly considered the "white black girl." and I'm so "different" and blah. I'm just tired of it. I'm me. I just want people to get over it. I'm not gonna fit into pre-determined steriotypes. What's up with this?

  1. The fact is that no matter what you do one group of people is going to look down on you.(not you per say but people in general) Our social mentality has not evolved far enough yet to let people realize that we don't need to belong to a specific ideal of what our appearance dictates. Your to white/not black enough, hey white boy why you acting black.  Was she an asian asian or an Americanized asian. Our species has grown to such a great size that we have segregated ourselves into tribes based on appearance, we were once mankind and we accomplished great things. No we are defined by our appearance. It's sad.

  2. I'm the same way. They call me an "oreo" all of the time. But I don't give a S**t. I'm smart and I know how to carry myself...and if the other black people think that I'm not black enough...oh well. I don't need to act just like everyone else to be considered black. I will be me and that's all that matters.

So kick it in the azz, because you don't need those people in your life to tell you who you should be. They can hate all they want to, and I bet you in a few years...you'll be in collage living a good life...then that's when they wanna be nice to you.

  3. I feel you...I am mixed native american/white...too white to be fully accepted among other Native Americans, too dark skinned to be accepted by white society. I too take care of myself, and am conscious of my demeanor. I constantly am called an "apple" by my native family (red on the outside, white on the inside). The only thing I can figure is it comes down to pure self-hate. Those who are jealous of you for respecting yourself do not actually view you as being White-cultured, they view themselves as being low class and white people being of a higher class. Its the whole slave mentality thing. For Native Americans, ts a matter of prestige. The white settlers used to divide us according to our features, mannerisms, grammar etc...and treat those who emulated what they considered to be "civilized livelihood" better than those who held onto our culture. Two generations of this mental abuse was all it took to break down the current generation into the mess we are. Now, when people like me (and You) break free from the stereotypes, we are labled and insulted. Its ridiculous.

  4. It's weird how people get angry at you when you don't fit stereotypes, isn't it? And when you do fit the stereotype, people are gonna be like, "I knew I was right about you, sucka!"

  5. Thats good. they are just "hating"(lol) on u. Its really annoying when u meet those black girls that are obnxoius and loud mouth with the attitude that goes like"girl,  hold my earring" like they going to fight u.Ignore. at least it looks like u have manners and nice. Guys dont like attiutde girls.lol

  6. Because blacks can being racially insensitive and no one says anything and usually they are the ones to criticize other blacks for "acting white".

  7. Please keep that attitude. We need more people in the world, especially black people, who don't want to conform to a standard. All it comes down to is insecurity, anger and fear on their parts. As you know, we have one of the biggest racial divides ever since before the Civil Rights Movements--all people, white, black, etc. need to fill the gap. I really never gave race a thought in the 80's and early 90's as I just never learned to see it differently. Now, everything is about race. There is nothing white about you. However, you are intelligent, free thinking, non-conforming and sound like you have goals. That just makes you YOU. You are going to continue to get this from people, I don't think the mentality is going to stop anytime soon. But continue to be you, you are not a "traitor" to your own race, you are not "assimilating" into white society. No...you are just someone who is going to be successful. Maybe that's what scares them the most...
