  1. simply bec. the music unlimited service you've subscribed into (or any subscription plans), will just allow you to stream or listen to full version of songs.  you can actually listen up to 2 million songs on your yahoo music jukebox as long as you are online. now, if you want to have a copy of that song on your hard drive or on a cd, you need to buy those burnable tracks for .79 each w/c goes for the license fee (fyi, not all songs are burnable and the buy button only appears if the song or album is available for online purchase).  if you dont wanna pay evry mon. or evry year for a subscription fee, you can still do download music by purchasing individual songs for .99 each.

  2. Neither of the answers above is correct in full.  With the Yahoo Unlimited you CAN dl songs and put them on your HD but you can't BURN them.  You can only listen to them on your machine or move them to a compatible MP3 player, but not put them on a disk as that's extra.

Yahoo! Music Unlimited is a music subscription service giving you access to over 2 million songs, plus much more. For the low monthly price of $5.99, you can:

Play and save songs to your personal music library

Share full songs with friends using Yahoo! Messenger**

Access your saved subscription music and playlists from multiple PCs

Buy 79¢ downloads to burn to CDs and transfer to non-compatible portable devices

Take subscription songs To Go (extra charge)

Publish and share your playlists; search and browse others’ playlists

Listen to over 120 exclusive pre-programmed and customizable radio stations in LAUNCHcast Plus

    Yahoo Music Unlimited  to go

Over 2 million songs to choose from

Transfer unlimited music to your portable device WITHOUTpaying per track

Fill your portable device with new releases

    Transfer songs, albums and playlists

I think that inorder to get them for free -you must pay for the Unlimited to go "for a few more bux per month"

    >>If you are still in trial mode.. I recommend that you cancel  NOW and then signup for the unlimited to go- or see if you can upgrade even further..

PLUS USE A MASTERCARD so you can get 2 yrs for 1

and I found how you can get the acct for 30 days - If you have a compatible device..

anyway here is the comparison chart:
