Why am i getting palpitations particularly whilst resting?

This could be cause by several factors. It is possible that you are suffering from an aortic fibrillation or flutter. This is not particularly dangerous (the only downside is that you loose the ability for your atria to pump blood into the ventricle, about 10% of the blood is pumped from the atria to the ventricle via atrial contraction, the other 90% is done by gravity.) Many people live for years with A-fib and don't notice it. What is more dangerous is ventricular fibrillation. Whatever the case I would see your doctor or cardiologist, a simple EKG will tell if this is heart related are not.

I get them too... all the time. Could be caffeine... stress... too much salt ....electrolyte imbalance ....need to drink more water. They are usually benign but if it bothers you go see your doctor.
