Why am i having problems signing in to facebook and hotmail?

Last night my laptop at home started having problems with me signing into the above sites. I have not changed any settings in my internet explorer 7.0. However for some reasons it takes me three attempts to sign into hotmail and facebook won't let me log in if I have the "remember me" tickbox selected. I have a feeling it's a problem to do with cookies because I've cleared my temp. internet files, cookies and history and a scan using spyware doctor which has been good at picking up viruses in the past has given me nothing. Furthermore today at work I was able to sign into hotmail first time! What's going on with my laptop??

There must be some cookies problem, if you cleand them
