  1. because the  face of your club is open at the time of impact    you need to  strengthen  your grip a little   ( meaning    make your  left wrist  stiffer  )   or  rotate your left hand  up some until you can see 3 knuckles  of your left hand ..   also remember to  shift  your   weight forward  on your swing   so you dont reverse pivot  making  the face of your club  open at impact ..

for the driver    tee it up so the  ball is about half the  width of the ball above the driver head .. that will put it about  right  for most proper swings..

  2. It is hard to tell by not seeing your swing, but I think your stance and posture may have a lot to do with it. When your club hits the ball, it is opened a bit causing your ball to spin and hook. Most people correct this by turning the club inwards in their swing, this is wrong. Try correcting your stance and posture, get a coach.

  3. The 'V' of thumb and forefinger of your closest hand should be on top of the club.

(Hey! We're mostly amateurs here.. Watch a pro.  By the way-better a hook than a slice any day).

  4. Blair this the tip for u. swing the long iron as the same tempo as your short iron. get your grip right and try to rotate your hips faster. if you still hookin it get some pro to check the fundamental. hope your driver will split the fairway.

  5. it could be your equipment. if your lie angle is too flat then the toe of the club hits first so your shots fly to the right off the clubface. so to counteract this you subconsciously adjust for the shots going right, whether this be making your grip too strong or other swing changes to stop from hitting right. This effect of hitting it dead right is much more pronounced in short irons than in long irons, so if you adjust your swing for your short irons then once you go and hit a long iron everything hooks left, at least thats what happens to me. However the problem is most likely a swing issue. Usually people try and overhit their longer clubs, so instead of swinging easy and roatating your body and hands in-sync, people usually either try and swing too hard with their hands so your hands are releasing before your hips , which can cause hooks. Another problem with swinging too hard is that instead of rotating around your hips you tend to slide your hips left, this makes your hands become late and you flick your wrists to make up for it, also causing a hook. All in all when hitting longer clubs dont try and kill the ball to hit it far, it usually results in mishits, hooks and pull hooks.

  6. Stance? Set up? Ball Position? Flat Swing? Strong Grip?

Weight transfer/or none? Swing Plane? Coming out of the shot? Incorrect Grip?? Golf Clubs not for your swing? Or swing speed?  Shaft too stiff? Not stiff enough? Grips too small? Too big? Degree of loft on club too high? Too low?

How can I really tell you what the problem is...without seeing you hit a golf ball.  However...there is a golf professional at the course you play that can...and see what needs to be done so you can quit hitting all these errant shots.  So why not do your self a big favor and contact that golf professional and set up a series of lessons with him, or her.  There are some very good women pro's who can teach as well.  Just one lesson won't fix all the above.  And, you will have a helluva lot more fun..and certainly enjoy this great game a lot more.  "It don't mean a thing, if you ain't got a swing!!"

  7. I must ask. Why do you have a 1 iron? Oh, and listen to the guys before and after me. ;)

  8. left hand is stronger turn your left hand slightly outward to weaken the left hand grip  good luck

  9. I take it you are a right hander , have an extremely strong grip which is causing you to have a closed face at impact making your ball go from right to left or straight to left.. You understand the meaning of a " strong grip" ? That is when the "v"s formed by the thumbs and the forefingers point at the outside of the right shoulder instead of to the middle of the  collar bone. So grip your club so the "v"s point to the middle of the collar bone and your hooks will be draws or straight balls.
