im 16 and im scared of everything rahhh!! its driving me crazy.

iv been like this for as long as i can remember. after i watch horror films i cant sleep and im just laying in bed till about 7 in the morning looking about 2 see if something is there. i haveto have my lamp on all night because i freak out and start going mad. i love watching horror movies but they scare me after when it gets dark. i think the scary man in the horror film is watching me and waiting for the right moment 2 jump out on me and kill me. im so tired in the morning because i dont get no sleep because im 2 busy looking round my room thinking someone is there. when my famlee goes out and leaves me on my own for the weekend i hate it. i love being on my own but when it gets dark i start panicing and i have all the lights on. im so stupid but i cant help it. why am i like this? what could i do 2 stop this madness?

  1. Fear of the dark is very common, second only (arguably) to fear of public speaking. In other words, it's normal! You might try not watching horror movies. They do the same thing to me, so I don't watch or read that stuff before bed. You could invite a friend or two to spend the night with you when your parents are away. Try installing a night light in your room.

    You need to realize, as I'm sure you do, monsters aren't real. What will really kill you are the boring everyday things like falling or car wrecks or aneurysms or cancer. Keep this in mind. If you still can't sleep, take some Tylenol PM. If that doesn't work, you could try RX sleeping pills. If you decide this latter thing, tell your doctor about the fear that causes the insomnia. Some people have phobias that are very real in the sense that they have a negative impact on their life. Good luck with this!

  4. night terrors? that's what i have. but in the dark i can't decipher reality from imagination and it all seems so real to me and just feeds my insomnia. it stems from my anxiety

  5. Simple Stop watching horror movies!!! I have the same problem but i stopped watching horror movies a long time ago and i have no problems.

  7. This is just an irrational fear and when you can accept that it will go away. Has anything bad happened to you after watching a horror movie, no of course not so why do you have the fear? Just tell yourself you are being stupid, go to bed and go to sleep.
