i am 64kilos, 30ish y.o female.

For breakfast I eat cereal or toast with banana.

For lunch I eat a multi grain bread sandwich with light cheese, light ham, cucumber & lettuce & sometimes boiled egg.

In between meals I have fruit/ muesli bar & some crackers with jam.

For dinner I have a light meal (which i have got some recipes from internet sources on low fat meals)

And about 3 coffees per day with light milk and 1 sugar......no soft drinks just juice and water.

I excersise for 45 minutes each day 3 or 4 days per week doing a combination of cardio & weights (1 or 2 days the weights and 2 days the cardio)

I have tried the shakes (optifast etc.. but that just starved my body & increased my body fat which was no good)

I'm not loosing any weight around my stomach area and i'm desperate to try new ideas... anyone know why this is not working?

I know its not much but I would like to loose about 4 kilos.

  1. Thats easy, from what you say in your question your intake of simple and complex sugars (carbohydrates) are way too high

    CARBS

cereal, toast, banana, multi grain bread, fruit, muesli bar, crackers

    SIMPLE SUGARS

    sugar, juice, jam

All this carbohydrate and sugar you are eating is stimulating Insulin and your blood stream must be flooded with it. Insulin controls your blood sugar by stopping fat and protein being metabolised, so it is impossible to burn fat until all that sugar and insulin is used up.

Ditch the bread, cereal, muesli, juice, fruit and crackers and eat more protein such as meat, fish, eggs, cheese and yoghurt. Fat isn't the big nasty, sugar is.

  2. Keep going!  Eventually, your body will have to respond.  Amp up your cardio to 60 minutes though and add crunches.  Cut back on juices (use flavored waters).   Have fun with it!

  3. The 3 meal strategy isn't necessarily the healthiest. It's merely the most socially accepted. It's actually healthier to eat 6 small meals a day (i guess they're technically not "meals").

With your current routine you've most likely reached your balance point, a point at which you neither gain or lose weight significantly. Reaching a new balance will mean increasing exercise and changing up the eating routine. The cereal or toast with banana sounds excellent for breakfast. You could maybe substitute the lunch meal with half a sandwich and some fiber (fruits or vegetables). Eating fruits in between meals is good. Diuretics are helpful in cleansing out toxins from your body (excep melon, most fruits are very good for this).

Cut down on the coffee. Believe it or not, caffeine raises the count of the hormone cortisol, which raises your body's need for energy storage. Caffeine makes you hungry.

A healthy exercise plan involves working out every day for at least 30 minutes. This doesn't mean weight training every day, but general calorie burning.

As for dinner, eat early. Late dinners mean less time to process the foods. If you eat an earlier dinner, you can suppress later cravings with some fruit and veggies (a pure fruit shake should really fill the tummy).

  4. you deffinitly got it down but there is one thing to change. coffee.. caffeine is a definite stop sign to weight loss. plus when you are at the gym, what do you do? you need to talk to a personal trainer and calibreate your heart rate because if you are doing aerobic, you aren't gonna lose like you would if you were in a fat burning heart rate zone.

  5. you know, muscle weighs more than fat. could you just be gaining muscle mass since you're going to the gym?

  6. It's possibly linked to your genes, which in that case there's really nothing you can do about it. Do you have family members that have trouble losing weight?

Plus, how long have you done this diet and excercise that you have been doing? Mabye give it some time?

  7. It gets harder to lose weight as your weight gets closer to what's considered as a healthy weight.  Naturally your body tries to not lose fat to survive.  It doesn't meat it won't shed those unwanted fats, it just mean you have to work harder and be patient.

I don't know how tall you are so I don't know how over weight you are.  But I think you are eating and exercising quite well.  Perhaps give it more time?

If you want faster result, I would suggest upping your exercise level.  May be jog faster or do cardio 4 times a week.

I've always had flabby belly, and this summer I WANT flat belly.

I've been jogging for 30min 5 days a week, 90 sit ups a day, and 2hours walk once a week on the weekend.

For the first time in my life, my belly feels flatter and I saw a shadow of muscle tone in the mirror when I tried on a bra in a shop the other day! (very excited!)

    So my suggestion is

    Do more cardio

Do sit ups 3x 30sit ups (all up, 90) every night

    Don't eat rice/pasta/bread at night

Good luck, I think you are on the right track.

  8. Doing weight training is gonna make you hungrier. If you want to lose weight you may want to try long distance running . run for 15 minutes a day for a week.the next week 20 minutes and 10 minutes more consecutively each week till you hit 40 minutes plus. Crunches for the abdomen , leg lifts , and squat thrusts will help tone the abdominal muscles as well. Dairy products are usually high in fat and cholesterol and stick to the body. Keep the dairy intake to a minimum. But otherwise eat a well balanced diet. Swimming if possible is great exercise as well.

  9. your liver is working over time , try liver cleanser tablets to clean it out, you will feel better, it helps with digestion. skin and hair will look better also    ask your chemist.
