  1. If you really have a good life but are unreasonably depressed, it might be caused by a chemical imbalance in the brain. There is nothing wrong with you; it is the body chemistry being overeactive or something and affecting the brain. Plus you're 17; a perfect age to fall victim to mood swings and depression due to hormones flying everywhere.

See a counsellor or a doctor. You can get some pills to help with the depression.

And, what can I say, just get out there more. I was pretty depressed for a while because I'm too shy and modest and didn't have very good social abilities. Then, I just pushed myself to have talk more and have fun, and now I'm fine again. It's just a matter of making a bit of effort to socialize (but I don't mean going to crazy parties and taking drugs, no.)

  2. Try changing your routine a little bit.  I am you to a tee accept for the height weight and age so I know how you feel.  If I feel like I am in a rut I do something I have not done in a while.  It can be something as simple as going to dairy queen or  your favorite restaurant you have not been to in a while.  Or you can take a chance at something off the wall that you have never done like a short canoe trip.

  3. Only you can make yourself happy, depression or not it's the only answer. Well there's plenty of ways to feel better, most commonly just to laugh a lot. Laughing in my opinion is the best medicine there is, most active one to. First figure out what kind of person you are, for say if your tired of not having friends or people to talk to, then make the decision with your self to get out there and make those friends and open up more. Also choose friends who are naturally good people and very comical, they will always raise your spirits. If you don't want to always be around people then have a stay at home for a while and find something there to preoccupy yourself. like hilarious videos on YouTube or something. Anything to make you laugh, NO ONE can feel depressed when surrounded by good things, people, even scenery, just put yourself in that place and things will begin to rub off on you.

  4. Sounds like you're just lonely and isolating yourself from meeting new people.  Try group therapy as well as individual therapy.  Also, you may need to see a psychiatrist for antidepressants or to test for any medical problems that include depression as a symptom.
