  1. Everyone's sad when they lose an animal, not to sound bad, but i think you will get over it soon, there's no real solution to it, but if you cry you cry, its fine

  2. Don't ever delete the photos, I still cry over my rabbit who died a year ago.

You will cherish the pictures in future, and they will make you smile.

Its more than just a hamster, she was your little friend. And it is hard. They have a special place in your heart, and unfortunately that day comes one day when you have to say goodbye.

Just remember that you gave her a fantastic life, and that she gave you so much happiness. It is hard losing a pet, and I still get very emotional over my loss. But you just have to be strong.

I hope you are okay. x*x

  3. i was 39 when our rabbit died of old age, i was devastated

  4. It's not just a hamster, it was part of the family. Rightly so that you're upset.

  5. Why are you asking this?  OF COURSE YOU ARE GOING TO CRY! She was part of your family - deny it or not. And I am pretty sure you loved her too...

I have lost a bunch of pets in my life, and I sob for about four days afterwards. After about a month I usually get my new furry ball of fluff, which lasts me another three years.

Just think of the positive, whatever made her ill is gone now, and she is not in any pain. Look to the future and smile!

  6. there is absolutely NOTHING wrong with crying over an animal that you have lost, you care for and love them, don't delete the pics,or you will be sorry you did,its ok to cry, everyone has lost a pet at one point, unless they are too young, but its not unusual to cry,its you healing, its perfectly normal. I'm very sorry for your loss...

  7. honey it does not matter if it is a hamster  or not the fact is something sad had to be done and you lost your pet, people who really love animals will see them as part of their family no matter how small you still loved her, don't delete her pictures as in time you will look at them and see how much joy she brought to you, i still have pictures of the hamsters i had as a girl and they make me smile to remember the little things that gave them their own personality, not all hamsters act the same, so in time you will regret getting rid of the pictures, if it makes you feel better i cry when the gold fish die now that is sad to admit, keep your chin up honey in time you will see you did your best for your friend and that is all people can ask you to do

  8. Yeah so it was 'only a hamster' but you still cared for it, loved it and are now sad its dead, it is completely normal to feel like this when you lose a pet no matter how small it is. You need time to grieve, so dont delete the pics, look at them and remember the time you had with your pet. it will get easier in time.

  9. If you love animals, losing a pet will always hurt.  Unfortunately they do not live as long as humans so eventually they are going to die.  Just think about the good life you provided for him and the good times you had looking after him.  I have lost many animals and it hurts every time.  Don't delete the pics.  Put them to one side until you feel over the grief then look at them and remember him the way he was.  If you delete the pics you may regret it later.

  10. Ah, that's really sad, I'm sorry. It doesn't matter that it was just a hamster, it was your pet and you loved her. If anything happened to any of my pets I'd be mortified. I don't think it's silly at all, and I woudn't delete any pictures, just keep them and perhaps look at them when you feel a bit better about it. x

  11. Aww **hugg** bless you. She might have been just a little hamster, but she was your friend and your pet. Like a minor extension of your family. You take as long as you need to grieve, and don't deleted those pics, you'll look back on them and smile one day  x x x x

  12. Allow yourself time to grieve, but do keep the pictures.  One day you will be glad you did.  I lost my 7 year old rabbit in the early spring, and my 8 month old guinea pig yesterday.  I am heartbroken.  They were a part of my family, like my own children, and I know it will take time to heal from that loss.  Hamsters, too, can be loved as much.  Don't feel bad about feeling sad over her.

  13. I've been here I've done this. I'm still going through it. I lost my hamster to wet tail infection. The vet never picked it up. He said my hamster had conjunctivitous and well he didn't (obv) I cried myself to sleep because mean its a common infection amoungst hamsters (according to the new vet that I have) and I dunno how he failed to pick it up. My heart breaks. I understand I had my hamsters pics up as my wallpaper. I never got many of him as I had him less than a year. The hurt never goes away. But atleast you have good memories. It just feels worse as I feelas thoguh I've been betrayed.

  14. losing a pet you really loved can have the same reaction as losing a family member close to you e.g. your mum, just try and calm yourself whenever you think about the lil' hamster.

  15. No it is not just a hamster. It was a living thing that you loved and cared for and in return was affectionate and funny and warm.  Don't let anyone tell you differently. Please don't delete the pictures you will be sorry later. It will take time for you to grieve for the lost of your companion but it does get easier I promise you. I am so sorry for your loss.

  16. There's nothing much you can do I'm afraid. It's perfectly fine to get upset when a family pet dies, she wasn't just a Hamster, she was your Hamster. Soon, you may feel up to getting yourself a new one. It's sounds like you really cared for your Hamster so why not give that love and affection to another?

Good luck and I'm very sorry for your loss...
