people in the US celebrate football as if it were such a great sport, but when compared to rugby its actually a lot slower, and the padding just makes it look like a "for females" version of rugby. but who knows, maybe even women could even play rugby without pads, yet these massive men in american football wouldnt do it.

  1. Yes I wish football was faster. That would make it an even better sport. I love Aussie Rules as well an I couldn't decide which one I like better. There is just something about it that lots of people love.

  2. I often wonder that myself, as I think it's the most ridiculous game of all football. All those big men done up like sumo wrestlers gone troppo! lol.

  3. Sorry, Whale, Alex F and Bingalee.

The hits are much harder in gridiron. If the padding and helmets were not worn, there would be 10-12 FATALITIES, yes FATALTIES in each game, let alone how many in a practice or training session.

The main idea for defensive players in football is to put the ball carrier in a CEMETERY, not the hospital. A defender wants the ball carrier to not want to come in his area again.

The end result of hits are sometimes worse than being hit head on by a truck. A 260 pound linebacker that runs 4.5 seconds for 40 yards COLLIDES with a 240 running back that runs 4.4 or faster and the pads look like "for females" version of rugby?

Watch the hits, you would want the pads and helmet also.

I don't think very many rugby players require both knees, both hips and other joints replaced due to the consequences of football. My father had to get both knees replaced--football in the 1950's.

  4. Why american football is so popular?

    It's not popular in Australia

  5. I would have to say football may be a it slower inbetween plays, but it is extremely quick once the ball is snapped. Plays take seconds. Where as in rugby, its more of a continuous play. The hits are a lot harder in football. Ive played rugby as well as football and rugby is more like a game of tag cuz when a guy gets close, they throw the ball to someone else.
