  1. Are you suggesting we not foster foreign relations w/ Islamic countries?  I don't think that's a good idea.

  2. because our government in the us are dictators. im christian id and ive deen told that i could not have a x-mas tree cause it offends jews.ummmmmmmm thats not american is it?

  3. The USA  "always" supports the dictators in Islamic countries because whenever the USA shows up for a meeting, the folks on the other side always point to some confident-looking guy in a cool uniform and say to "talk to him".

  4. Relations with Pakistan come from the Cold War days. someone next to the Soviet Union who was willing to be our friend. Jimmy Carter tried to bring a conscience to our foreign relations by not dealing with countries that had brutal regimes but it didn't work. You can't just ignore those nations, you have to work with them to try to get them to change.

  5. there are worse in the world than him.

  6. They will support anyone that serves their purpose and then bring them down if they don't get what they want. That's what happened to Saddam. The US supported him when they were getting cheep oil from him and he was fighting Iran.

Then when oil went up they just go in and steal it.

They will soon grow sick of their new friends and bring them down too.

  7. its easier to deal with dictators, you can pay them millions of dollars to do what you want, while a fully democratized country they have to vote on things in their Legislative body, which takes time and has many compromises

  8. It's not just Islamic nations. We support dictators (who have something we want) all over the world (without prejudice against their race, religion, criminal behavior, or mental illness).

Could not have a x-tree where? It's unlikely you were told that you could not have one in your house or on your private property.

  9. because there is no other choice.  we, at times, have been 'tricked' into supporting someone who seems to be the best choice only to find out later of their real intent and agenda..IE  Fidel Castro.

we don't ALWAYS support leaders of Islamic countries, even thought some say they sympathize with them..IE...Iran's president.  while not officially a dictator, he, for all practical purposes, is one.

  10. Little choice. I rather have a secular dictator over religious fanatics.

  11. In islamic countries we had 3 choices:

    Radical islamists,

    Communists,

    Dictators.

In the rare instances that democracies did form, we supported them. (see Pakistan - Benazir Bhutto)

  12. No choice.

  13. I'm not saying its the only reason but a big factor is oil or resources we want or need.
