  1. It is not just "analog" signal vs digital.

You try to replicate a complete 3D audio experience using in most cases two speakers.

Surround sound can help , but it is very hard to capture using electronics what the human brain can process and experience.

  2. i think the reason for this is becaues an analog signal is a smooth wavelength. When this wavelength is converted to digital, its all numbers and stuff. so the wave-length becomes almost like a stair case.

_I   I_        kind of like that, instead of a perfect curve. And

_I         I_     what happens is white noise, or static, fills in the

                        blanks.

BUt with an analog signal, it is a perfect curve, and you dont loose anything.

  3. Try listening to a  'DVD Audio' demo somewhere, on DVD Audio compatible gear. It is digital, but sounds so close to the master tapes, the human ear cannot tell the difference. SA-CD is almost as good. Compression formats are getting more popular, like MP-3 Players, and I-PODS. The one guy was right about the digital sound-waves being clipped instead of smooth. Good ear!
