Why and how are pre-number skills important?

Pre- number skills - I think this is pretty self explanatory -introducing young children - who happen to be sponges - to numbers and counting helps them identify their numbers and shapes and will easily transition them into the math they will eventually encounter.

every little thing you do with a child is a step.  counting is super-easy to do with everything you do.  count to put them in their car seat..count the bites they eat...count the steps you take....sing counting songs. so many ways to work with numbers.

They prepare a child for later work in math and everyday calculatons, such as handling money, dividing items, etc.
