Why and how did Lancelot betray King Arthur?

I just want to know why and how he did it as well as his punishment for doing so.

  1. He slept with Guinevere (King Arthur's wife) because he loved her.


  2. By boning Guinevere while Arthur was avenging the cowardly murder of Sir BadBeast.

  3. Lancelot was Arthur's most trusted knight, knight regent of Camelot. He was charged with overseeing Arthur's duties when he was away. Lancelot betrayed Arthur by constituting an affair with the queen (aka treason) They were like brothers. Many speculate that Lancelot did this  because of lack of moral, but I think it was because he actually loved Guinevere. If you are interested in learning more, email me, I'm currently writing two adult- fiction novels about Camelot.

    P.S. Lancelot's Punishment for sleeping with Guinevere was to be exiled back to his homeland. (France) Guinevere's punishment was far more severe, burning at the stake. Lancelot saves her in the end though.

  4. Lancelot and Queen Guinevere were in love. When some of Arthur's knights discovered Lancelot in Guinevere's bedroom, he had to fight his way out so that he wasn't executed. Guinevere was left behind, and sentenced to burn at the stake, but Lancelot came to her rescue, killing at least one of Arthur's nephews in the process. I think they were at war for awhile, but eventually Lancelot helped Arthur against Mordred.

  7. this is from a movie, merlin in 2003 or 2002 i think. while king a arthur was away or something like that he slept with her so pretty much an affair and this was after arthur had trusted him. punishment, i don't think that there was one but eveything ended in chaos
