  1. Animals have no rights because humans have never given them any. Humans think that because they are more smarter that animals, have evolved so much, are such intelligent creatures, that they are the only ones who need rights. Humans have forgotten that just as they live and breath, so do animals. What if the fishes or the monkeys evolved so much instead of us and treated us in the way that we treat them. Humans do not eat other (unless they are cannibals) because we speak out against it, but we eat animals beacuse they say nothing. At the end of the day...ANIMALS HAVE NO RIGHTS BECAUSE THEY DO NOT HAVE A VOICE TO SPEAK OUT AGAINST IT! It is wrong because just like us they are living, breathing, in relationships and alive, they are so alive, and we treat them like dirt as they do not speak out aginst it. Humans are mindless and vain sometimes.

  2. A right is a social thing, negotiated by and for people and granted by and for people. If no other people existed but you then you would have no rights. (except those you gave yourself but then who would know or care?)

    So rights only exist if both of the following conditions are met;

    1. If someone grants rights to you.

    2. If you claim rights for yourself.

    For either condition 1 or 2 you need thinking, conscious and self-conscious beings that can communicate abstract thoughts and be able to own and take responsibility for their own thoughts and actions. For preference, these people need to be free.

    Animals have no rights because they cannot do any of those things. They are not free and cannot take responsibility for their actions. Neither can they make descisions on a humans behalf.
