Question:

Why are'nt juveniles entitled to a trial by jury?

I know that they dont get tried by a jury but I just want to know why.

  1. Because they are subjects and not considered criminals.  Many times they aren't convicted, but adjudicated.  Juvenile criminal trials are more like hearings and not in any way like criminal proceedings except for their 'rights' but the 7th and 14th Amendments never were spiritually intended to apply to juveniles.


  2. When i was in high school, we had Teen Court where there was a jury for our peers for crimes committed; i'm not sure if they do that anymore.  So, i'm thinking that adults are jurors to decide what happens to their peers who are adults also.  So, adolescent jurors for adolescents, and adult jurors for adults.
