  1. For more than 130 years Seventh-day Adventists (SDAs) have practiced a vegetarian dietary lifestyle because of their belief in the holistic nature of humankind.  Whatever is done in eating or drinking should honor and glorify God and preserve the health of the body, mind and spirit.

  2. Seventh-day Adventists believe that Ellen G. White (1827-1915) was appointed by God as a special messenger.

She said in  that her visions gave "positive testimony against tobacco, spiritous liquors, snuff, tea, coffee, flesh-meats, butter, spices, rich cakes, mince pies, a large amount of salt, and all exciting substitutes used as articles of food." Further, she stated that cheese should never enter the human stomach, and that "eggs should not be placed upon your table" .
