Why are AFL footy players so often from regional areas?

  1. People in regional areas get outside more, do more 'hands on work' and so are generally fitter...the fresh country air would also be a lot better than the air closer to the city...


  2. because if you don't play footy in the country you're treated like a fuggin poofter and get picked on.

  3. Because people from rural areas love their AFL. Their isnt much to do... so we watch AFL and watch our legues play. Being involved in a footy club is where you make friends and have fun at the bar.ect.

  4. Just law of averages.

    Actually there are more per ration from the cities because they receive better training under better conditions & coaching  than most from the bush.

    Many country boys who make it big time generally progress through one of the large city private colleges. They are recognized & awarded sports scholarships.

  5. because people in the city have too many distractions

    people in the country dont have that much to entertain them selves(not a bad thing) so heaps of good sports people come from regional Australia

    all codes and sports

  6. Because in the country there ain't much to do,so it's either s*x or footy mate...
