Question:

Why are ATP rankings based on player achievement and not fans' emotions? It's not fair is it?

I mean, the ATP rankings are silly, they have a guy who's just won 59th consecutive match on grass at #1 for years (ie player achievement) and yet another guy who hasn't achieved as much but who some say is likable is not #1 (ie not ranked according to fans' emotion)

Are the ATP mad???

  1. pero... vo so' loco viteh

  2. hehe, you're kidding right??

that's probably one of the dumbests thing i've heard.-

    how do you measure likeability???

if this would work then andy roddick would be number one(hehe, i would wish), and djokovic wouldn't even be in top 100.-

    haha.

  3. Yeah, i have a feeling, just a SLIGHT one that this guy is joking. His screen name is 'tongue in cheek' so yeah, it seems like he is taking the mick.

I'd also go on to say that maybe he doesn't like Nadal too much and is a Federer fan... maybe? So if the entire question is a bit of a laugh, like i think it is, cut him some slack, but if it isn't WTF ARE YOU ON ABOUT, MAN!

  4. What a g*y question!! That's not how the ATP works, my friend. It's not up to fans. That would be unfair.

  5. Is this some sort of campaign to get your pal Andrew Castle to world number 1??

  6. I agree. I feel Boris Becker should still be number 1. Did I mention how strongly I feel about this. I'm willing to get as emotional as it takes to make it happen.

  7. fish

  8. yeah! why even play the matches just go by who the fans like LOL WHAT A r****d!

  9. Did you read what you typed?  I think you have it backwards.  It only makes sense that they rank the players based on accomplishments.  If you won straight sets against every person in your state, but everybody hated you and you got ranked as worst player in the state, would that make you happy?  Obviously, you should be ranked #1 in the state because you can beat them all.

And also, I find Federer to be a likeable guy.  Some people have problems with him, and I'm not sure why.  Sometimes he comes off as a little arrogant, but lets not forget that English is not his native language, and many other languages structure sentences in a way that doesn't come off right in english.

If you want, you can set up a popularity poll and get the ranking system you are looking for, but your ranks will never get used for tournament purposes.

One last thing:  Agassi would forever be the #1 player in the world by your rankings.
