Why are All Blacks fans so cocky?

They are you know.I sat next to some on the train last year going to the wales New Zealand match.I think all they talked about was how good they are and how they were going to demolish us and not to mention that they were the best in the world by a longshot and that everyone else is c**p and also would you belive,they will win the world cup.

And not to forget,Wales are the village idiots of world rugby because we havent beat them for some 45 years.Just to put something right,if we are the village idiots for not beating you in 45 years,

what are Ireland and Scotland and the rest of the world exept about four then who have NEVER EVER beat you then?How come they arent village idiots?Next time,shut up! about your team.Ye,they are awesome and i respect them for that,just shut up!

Your right those comments were unwarranted especially when your visiting that country.  A little etiquette was called for.  I hope the All Blacks do win the Rugby World Cup we have an easy run in to the quarter finals with only Scotland the real team we have to contend with, and from then on that's where we run into problems.  Fingers crossed though.

That's just the way they are, I for one can't wait until they get dumped out of the world cup (preferebly by Ireland) so it will shut them up, New Zealand have been dipping in form lately, they're not as good as the team that beat the Lions in that year, I say Either Ireland or South Africa will win, though I am a bit biased.

Well they do have alot to brag about. Over the last few years there team has been pretty dominant, especially over us lot in the northern hemisphere. I think you would be bragging if Wales were that good!

Simple. Because they are that d**n good. They play badly and they still win. That's what you want your team to be able to do, and they can. But, I have to say (I know you're Welsh), England did the same yesterday and look at that result. Maybe I'm speaking to soon but are England getting ready to peak at the right time? I really hope so, so they can kick the Kiwi's a$$ and make them shut the h**l up! Who would you rather win? England or NZ?

Too right they are cocky.  BUT... I was in Sydney after England won the RWC in 2003.  Talk about cocky, it was bloody unbearable!  Cocky fans?  What about Irish rugby fans?  All this malarky about winning the world cup and they HAVE NEVER BEATEN THE ALL BLACKS!!!

Why are any fans of a great team cocky? Because they can be, they know they are the best team and their fans act like it...it is like being a Yankees fan here in the States...The All Blacks have a history of greatness, and their fans are used to watching them win.

Well for one the All Blacks play in The Tri Nations so that says something I guess. Plus our U.S. team isnt all that great (in my opinion) I guess the fans just think they have the right to brag. I'm an All Blacks fan myself but I'm not a bragger. And yes I live in the U.S.

I take it you haven't been in NZ when we are loosing. Many will do anything to criticise the team and its players.

We are a proud rugby nation, and when times are good we tend to celebrate and yes some get carried away. But when we are not performing, heads roll and jobs are expected to be lost by coaches etc etc... I guess it was just a good streak

Besides, who doesn't say that their team is going to win?

It is the only notable sport that they practice. I have talked to a New Zealander during the recent Cricket World Cup and he could not really talk about the game. I asked him why because it appears that New Zealanders are so passionate about sports. He admitted that Rugby is a religion for the and the rest is just Sports.

New Zealand are so good for a number of reasons, it's the ONLY sport they play, they rob all the good Polynesian players, centrally contracted players and the ref's are always gentle on them.  

Don't be dragging Scotland and Ireland to your village idiot level ;)

In 1993 I was living and playing in NZ (Wanganui).  I had the time of my life, but I certainly saw what you were talking about.

This was during the Lions tour, and while it was certainly a big deal, people referred to the Lions as a "Second Division" side.  

When the Lions won the second test, to tie the series, of course the whole country was wondering "what went wrong."  I heard more than a few people seriously suggest that the NZRFU had ordered the All Blacks to lose in order to be sure that there would be sufficient interest in and spectators for the third test.

You have to remember that the people you are talking about are passionate enough about their rugby and their national team to travel half way around the world to watch them play.  Of course they are going to be a bit loud and obnoxious about it.

Also, New Zealander's and Australians always have that kind of rivalvry going on before international matches - it's not ever intended to be rude or nasty - it's just part of the fun of being a supporter.  We'll hassle the **** out of each other but we will be more than happy to have a beer together after the game, no matter who wins.  Perhaps you could learn alot from that.

Don't take things so seriously!!!
