  1. Because they are taught to be that way and are brought up a life where a lot gets handed to them and stereotypes are abound in their media.

  2. Well by your generalization am I able to make the judgment that everyone from Austrilia is rude cause you make generalizations so everyone there must do the same?

C'mon. Yes America is getting a lot of television time, for varying reasons. I'll agree that there are some Americans that are extremely rude and judgment toward others (even other americans.) But for you to lump us all together and say we are all rude because of the small amount of american population you've seen, is rather rude of you.

  3. Well Lilith, why do you make large sweeping generalizations???  All Americans are not rude, but there are many who are, so perhaps you have just been meeting the bad ones!  There is a general feeling in some countries that Americans are arrogant, and unfortunately, that is something that President Bush has compounded by his unreasonable handling of foreign countries.  However, the people of America are mostly hard working, patriotic, helpful, friendly, and welcoming.  So please give them another chance.

  4. they think they own the ******* world and cant handle reality checks

  5. There's is all kinds of American's.

the rude ones are the ones that get the attention though.

  6. Firstly, one cannot form a justified conviction about an entire people from one's own limited experience with said people. That said, what might be regarded as American arrogance, which can certainly be observed in SOME Americans, most likely stems from a combination of the country's popular media, education system, and style of government.

The popular media in the US is dominated by home-related issues and gives little observance to foreign issues, and even less so to foreign issues that the US has little involvement in. The US government preaches that its style of government is the right one, and all other societies that don't resemble their own are wrong. That is where Americans (again, this only relates to a portion) might get their perception that "they rock". The public education system brings up young Americans exposed to this kind of perception.

These type of Americans are a product of their environment, which can most likely be said for a portion of citizens of any other country. You will find "rude" people in EVERY country. America might seem more prominent because of its unrivaled influence in the current world and thus the media; it doesn't make them any more "rude" than any other group of people found in the world.

  7. I've never met a rude American.  Loud is another story, but not rude.

  8. When you find the answer let me know. I am American (unfortunately) I can't change that, but I do agree with you 100%. It seems that we are all arrogant, spiteful, greedy, and isolationist. I would enjoy moving to another country, but It is very hard to pack up and move somewhere new.
