Why are American Negroes Superior Athletes?

Say what you will about their mental capabilities, there is no denying that they are some of the world's best sports stars. Why is that?

Quick question - I do not understand why no one has flagged up that the person asking the question, is referring to people with African-American background as 'negroes'?

Could you please refrain from using derogatory terms associated with any community. Some can and will take this very offensively!

Personally I think it's down to adaptation. If you look at people from certain countries e.g. Ethiopia, Eritrea, Kenya, they tend to be the ones who run the races in the Olympics etc, I believe this is down to the lifestyle they live, which is part of the culture and down to the conditions in those countries. Those adaptations are passed down generation to generation, but it's down to the individual to let those characteristics to be expressed i.e. training. If you look at people from Ethiopia, Eritrea, Kenya etc who have grown up in London for example, they are not great runners...whereas those who have grown up in those countries without training are better runners or athletes etc due to their lifestyle which accentuates their genetically inherited abilities.

Are you trying to get a rise out of people?

blacks are good at some sports like running and not so good at others like swimming. there are a myriad of reasons for this, body types, access to facilities, cultural proclivities, etc.

what is annoying is when people link intelligence with athletic ability. people can be athletic and smart at the same time. its the easy way out and inaccurate to compartmentalize everyone into dumb jock and smart loser categories.

It's the same as when you breed your farm animals or race horses.When blacks were slaves they were paired with the best and strongest to give the best offspring .

Socio-economically one theory is that because of discrimination they have fewer opportunities to get ahead. Sports is one of the few opportunities and also a road to greater opportunities (i.e. scholarships).

The first slaves came to america 400 years ago.  There was not a steady shipment.  They were pretty much like cattle.  It was easier to maintain one born into slavery as well.  Just like cattle they were bred for size and ability.  Africans have experienced a longer period of "survival of the fittest", so there you will see an advantage as well.

It is only in the last 50 years that we have really noticed this.  there is a correlation with the popularity of paid athletes as well.  If socio economics were flipped, we could even see asians as superior atheletes I'll bet.
