Im American Im not jealous of Australia.. I actually loved doing reports on Australia all through my school years, its beautiful, I love the accents I have only met 2 Austrailians and they were very nice I liked them, I have no hard feelings at all? I don't think Americans dislike you..?  I'd love to visit too!

I'm jealous of Australian hospitality & manners (like yours), and I'm jealous of Australia being the new fattest country in the world. You guys took our title. :)

And, I'm also extremely jealous of the way Australians treated aborigines. It's even worse than how Americans treated natives.

Finally, I'm jealous of Australian cuisine, like vegemite.

I know what you mean.  For some reason American tourists seem to be the most obnoxious bunch of people!  When I travelled abroad last, I was in Paris on a group tour which headed to see the Moulin Rogue in Montmatre and the entire trip I had to listen to the Americans comparing absolutely everything to back home!

I work in a credit union, and we don't do foreign exchange (as we're not a bank and there is a travelex next door).  During cruiseship season, there is an abundance of typical Americans in my city.  We have signs up on the doors explaining we don't do foreign exchange, and also directions to Travelex.  Yet they always line up and when they get to the front of the queue and I explain to them that I can't exchange their notes, they get angry and start saying things like "we would never be treated like this at home..."

They even have to try and compare landmarks like the Opera House and the Harbor Bridge to landmarks back in the States...and god knows why they must talk so loud and punctuate every.single.word!!  If you just want to brag about how great the US is there's a simple answer - don't come to our country and stay home!

Having said that I've met quite a few US students on exchange at uni and they're always pretty nice and nothing like the tourists I've met.  It just seems to affect the 40 - 60something early retirees who think they're fantastic cos they have enough money to travel (like it's that expensive these days anyway..)
