Why are Americans so afraid of communism?

Is it entirely due to ignorance? I have heard from friends that have travelled to America that they get asked questions upon arrival about whether they have ever been associated with communism, e.t.c.

  1. Why are Americans so afraid of communism?

Is it entirely due to ignorance?

You are the one who is ignorant my commie friend the Communist murdered an enslaved over 100 million people over it's 75 year rein of terror.

  2. we are not afraid of communism , we would rather just be allowed to run our own lives without some dictator telling us what/when/where to do things, sooner or later countries with this commie way of life usually have a revolution or die

  3. Let's get creative.  Say I am the dictator in a communist country that you live in and I don't like you talking to freely about my communist ideals on the internet.  Either you get 'punished' or I take the entire country offline with an order.

Now you can just stand on the street outside of your house and shout to people that are in the same situation.  No one else outside of your country will hear your opinion (unless it is authorized).

People don't really have any rights unless their 'dictator/government' deems it necessary.

    Communism = Social/public oppression

  4. We're afraid of failure. Communism is imperfect and ineffective. Our governent is FAR from perfect but communism would only thrive in a ideal society. I don't brand people as "evil" because they may have been associated with communism I just disagree. The governement tends to get overly antsy about communism.

  5. Because of the constant media input since the cold war. Communism isn't a perfect system, just as democracy isn't. It's just a a social system. If Russia we're to be the most powerful power on earth, and would be communist then everybody would fear democracy. And so on, and so on...

  6. The very basis of the question indicates that you are historically ignorant and any answer offered at this moment would not enlighten nor educate you on this matter.

You need to read more to appreciate any logical input.

Son... my response was not meant to be deragatory, it's just factual. Sometimes the truth hurts.

  7. That attitude is a relic of the Cold War, in the '50s and '60s public schools were used to indoctrinate students into anti-communist attitudes.  Many people grew up then and passed those attitudes to their kids.  The average citizen of the U.S. doesn't know the difference between an economic system and a political system, and wouldn't care if they did, so they scream words like "communist" and "socialist" the way people in the Middle Ages used to scream "witch".

  8. Because it denies the hard work that goes into making someones dream of financial security and freedom possible. It denies human individuality and accomplishments. This is a valid reason to fear and prevent its spread Just my view.

  9. In a Communist dictatorial society, you wouldn't be asking that question.  You'd be to afraid to.

We don't FEAR it, we HATE what it stands for.

I've met many people who have come to this country and NEVER asked them if they had been associated with Communism (I've also been to about 30 countries...some more than once).

    Try telling another lie! BUSTED!
