Also why do so many people from other countries train in United States' colleges?

I know people will say Chinese have more Gold Medals, but this is just the beginning on the Olympics. US will be dominate on Track n Field.

  1. I object your honor!  That is begging the question!

No really, I see where you are coming from, but it is in my opinion that this question is to biased for me to answer.

  2. STEROIDS!! ...ok for few

but it's mainly the training techniques

  3. because for the most part the USA has people from everywhere....sometimes we get lucky enough to get that one guy who if it wasnt fot problems in another country 60 years ago he would be competing for germany etc.

  4. Because, my friend, the US has plenty of training facilities where the best athletes train for 4 to 6 years in between the Olympics.

  5. As the person above me said (Yoda), there is no actual way to break down what country gets the most gold, silver, bronze, etc. in the end result of the games. So the answer is truly a bonafide "not applicable".

But one thing that is very apparent and can't be denied is that there are a good number of sports that Americans trained in the US consistently do well in. Gymnastics, track, swimming, basketball, volleyball and others definitely come to mind. It's also obvious that a good chunk of players who represent other countries have spent all their serious training time in the US, in US universities with American trainers.

Why exactly that happens, I'm not sure. Many reasons I can think of, some are big and some are small. But it's obvious that the US always does pretty d**n well. So good for them. The thing I like most is actually that so many of them are good sports. Especially this year, when there's been so much sketchy stuff coming from China. From steroids to obviously poor judging to illegal contestants, etc. It takes a lot of inner strength to smile and bear it when you're dealing with that. I salute them for their maturity and great conduct.

  6. I don't understand this question.  The Olympics don't necessarily decide who the best athletes are.  They decide who is the best in each individual event, but remember that there are a lot of medals awarded to teams, so those players on those teams don't have a chance to make as big of an impact.

And if you do go by gold medals, China are 2-5 favorites, or have a 71.4% chance of winning the most gold medals.  Athletics may be coming up, but China's lead before today was 11 gold medals, and the U.S. traditionally picks up a less under 10 gold medals in athletics, including 8 in Athens.  In addition, badminton hasn't awarded many medals yet, and table tennis hasn't awarded any medals yet.

But regardless, it's flawed to simply ask why any one country has the best athletes, because it's always a matter of opinion which country does.

  7. Money and a big population. America can afford the best of the best training facilities for all their athletes. Poorer countries would still be using old technology in sports science.

  8. I don't know why people train there, Australians train at the AIS (Australian Institute of Sport). Maybe poorer countries don't have the facilities these athletes need.

As for being the best athletes, I think it depends on the sport and there are also phases on which countries dominate which sports. For example, every now and then Australia and USA produce an athlete in Gymnastics who may be tough competition and win a medal in a particular apparatus, but Russia and China will always be dominant in the team events.

Now that Ian Thorpe has retired, Micheal Phelps no longer has the same competition as he did when Ian Thorpe was still swimming competitively. What happens when Micheal Phelps retires? Are you seriously saying that USA will dominate the Kenyans in the long and middle distance events? LOL. Yes, in alot of events USA is the best in the world at the moment. But like everything, it goes in phases, one day it might be france or south africa on top of the medal tally. We've been there before.

  9. Technically, the country with the most gold medals is the "best". So currently, China is the best.

  10. simple we have 647 athletes and the next biggest country has 384 so we  have a much better chance of winning

  11. Many countries have great athletes and different countries have different strengths.

The U.S. has great trainers though and places a lot of emphasis in being great.

Technically, the country with more medals has a more broad rang of athletes that excel an is better, but in the end, U.S. will probably rank up their with china in golds if not surpass them so who really cares.

  12. OMG are you serious,

Pull your head out of your **** and look at the big picture.

It doesnt matter what country your from it depends who is best on the day.

Australia has dominated the swimming for how many years, So just because Micheal wins 7 which should only be 6 gold medels you think America is the best. there is better track & field then america like all the countries of Afica.

People are saying the chinese cheating in the gynanstic's but we all know that today Phelps didnt win but was given the medel anyways, it clear shows the other guy hit first Phelps arms where still in the air.

this 0.01 sec stuff they are claiming is c**p. Who is going to talk away the gold from him. He is american they will declear war.

Cant wait for the day they die in the **** and some1 like Togo beat them.

Australia will take the last gold off him anyways he wont get the 8.

  13. I wouldn't say that Americans are the "best athletes."  I'd say that Americans are currently having the most success at the Olympics.  And there are probably several reasons for that:

For one thing, the U.S. is a large country.  The more people you have, the greater your chance of having a few ultra-talented athletes.  American is also a very sports-oriented country. It's a big part of our culture, so a lot of people get involved in sports; again, giving us a larger pool of talent to pull from.  Also, we have a very diverse population, so we have athletes who enjoy - and excel at - a wide variety of sports.

The U.S. is also a fairly wealthy country.  We can afford to build state-of-the-art training facilities, and hire the best coaches (some who come from other countries to enjoy the excellent facilities and high salaries).  If every country had these same advantages, their athletes would probably do just as well.

  14. bwahahahahaha   as if

  15. has anyone noticed for the western athletes and competitors quite a few of them have asian trainers??

put that into your american theory.

  16. First of all Americans are not the best athletes. Athletes who win the Gold Medal in an event are the best. China is leading USA by 12 Gold Medals. I don't think Tyson g*y will win a Gold Medal because of the two Jamaicans. Your question...the US Government supports athletics unlike in other countries. Americans can hire coaches, they have beautiful facilities and equipments. That's why.
