Why are Asians and Indians value education more than other races

It seems to me that Asians (Japanese,Chinese,Koreans) and Indians (not American Indians, but people from India), value education more than whites and blacks.

Is that just an illusion? Is it because all the Asians and Indians we see in US colleges are the smart, rich, privileged ones that come to study abroad?
