Why are BT so horrible?

Ok when my dad signed up for bt home broadband we didn't recieve a welcome package because no one was in to sign for it and when my dad asked them if they'd deliver it to a different adress as no one was in on mornings, he was at work and i was a college, they said no they wouldn't my dad got annoyed but he let it go, in the end when the bt guy came to set it all up we ended up getting a second hand bt hub out of the back of his van, we never got any wires (except a ethernet cable) or an installation disk.

Last week there was a 'lightning strike' that blew my phone line and we had no internet or phone, an engineer came out and fixed the phone line saying it was all faulty not cos of the lightning strike but the fact that both our phone connections had faulty wiring (which bt put in for us for a cost of nearly 200quid), anyway he fixed it and left, i then plugged the bt hub back into the phone line and when i switched on my computer no internet came on, two days later after i couldn't get it back on my dad rung bt up, they were useless, my dad spent over an hour on the phone and he tried everything he said, even thought i kept telling them he was wasting his time the guy was just messing with the settings not doing anything in the end he hung up on my dad and its not like my dad was rude or yelling at him. Anyway we rung again this time my dad told the woman that the guy before her had messed around sending my dad through c**p all resetting my computer to the settings it wasn't meant to be on, the manager told us to put in the installation disk which we never recieved and in the end my dad asked them to send out a welcome package which we should of recieved in the first place, they wouldn't instead they told us that they'd send out a installation disk, the computers up and running now but i find the fact that my ethernet connection in my computer doesn't work thanks to them.

They have been so rude and irrisponisble to almost everyone i know who is with BT, the conned my mum into paying her bill twice on many occasion and they never refunded her, my boyfriends mum just signed back up with them and the charged her 40quid for a phone bill the day after yet she hadn't used the phone?

Why are they so irrisponsible?

  1. Hello i guess i will be the odd one out - my reason is simple, i have been using BT for over three years now, everything seems cool. Show me one perfect ISP i will show you were the devil resides LOL

  2. We've used to have trouble with BT too. Once, they double charged us the monthly bill, we had to threaten legal action to get a refund. We've moved our line completely to Virgin, and have no problems so far. My advice to you and your father, is to make a complaint. Call, and ask to speak to the manager. If you have no success with the manager, then go above the managers and keep going up the line until you get a satisfactory outcome (remember, everyone has a boss). Put it in writing if you have to, but please dont let BT get away with this. They're taking the mick out of too many people because they think they're above the law, and until people stop lying down and taking it, they'll continue.

  3. I would never go with BT had some much trouble with them

As when i had work done on my house the workers didn't put the BT line back up so i rang BT and instead of putting it back up they took it completely down when i phoned up to have it put back up as they took it down they wanted to charge me £124.99 for a new line

No Way was i paying that amount for something that was their fault

  4. sorry you seem to have had so much trouble.

i seem to be one of the lucky ones .been with them 3 years.

the one problem i used to have was having to go to india for advice.

i now phone the company i took my extended warranty with and get a better service.

  5. "I sacked them long time ago", BT,and their trumpet logo yeah, blowing their own trumpet more like, and now it's using openreach? what a phackin liberty! plze forgive the irony! oh and the welcome back junk mail they send you,and yes they are devoid of understanding/and jobsworthyness it beggars beleif,no offence to anyone who is happy with the Bt service, btw.

  6. i know what you're going through. when we switched to BT, they said we should be up and running in a couple of days. 3 weeks later we still have no phone line or Internet. my dad calls up and it turns out they gave our number to someone else. about a month later we get our number back, 3 months and 5 homework detentions later our Internet was back.

It was only because my dad yelled at the man down the phone so instead of the estimated 6 months they said (although at first it was 3 weeks) and it was only 4.

  7. We are so lucky here in Hull. We don't have BT lines. We are the only city in the country to have our own independant phone company. Yes we miss out on some of the offers because of it but from what I have heard about other companies I am rather glad.
