Question:

Why are Banks closed on the weekends?

First, I imagine a lot of people need banking in the weekends, and second.. what if there is a huge banking emergency. There is NOBODY to contact in order to freeze the account or reverse something or take any action whatsoever so somebody can take their time just emptying it out. They have no 1800 emergency line whatsoever. Isn't that a LITTLE dangerous?

Am I missing something here? Is there some law? I've been trying to find a bank around here that has some way to contact them on those two days.

  1. because "they" want you broke on the weekend.  DUH!

Its an attempt to cut down on drunk driving.  At least that was the excuse they used in my town.

h**l they are even shutting off ATM's here at nite now

  2. Not sure where you live but banks are open on weekends here.  There are some that are even open on Sundays.  Most banks do have 800 numbers you contact over the weekend for emergencies such as lost or stolen debit card.  I think that maybe you are banking with a small town bank.

  3. Where is "here"?  A lot of U.S. banks are open on Satrudays.

  4. idk cuz now we have atm's lol :)

  5. In my small town the bank is only closed on Sunday.
