  1. It is just science fiction & is yet to be proved.

  2. They are not in any way a source of time travel.  As a matter of fact, their is no time inside them.  Time stops.

  3. No as stated above as far as we no they cannot basicly a black hole runs from sucking in all matter around it including light and sound however the black hole sucks only neutrons in thus making the quantity bigger but the volume smaller (In otherwords its getting bigger as it shrinks) and anyway as the matter becomes so compact and the radiational energy becomes so great it connot possibly become any smaller / bigger it then implodes then explods which is what some scientisits reckon was the "Big Bang" that created everything however it cannot have created everything seeing as itmust feed on matter to shrink / increase. Whether this stopped what time travelling was orginally possible is yet to be learnt however scientificlly we cannot travel through time at this precise point in time.

  4. Because space is a fabric. Dark matter. And gravity warps this fabric. Black holes give of a lot of gravity due to how dense they are. Finally, space and time are entwined (spacetime) and are thought of as the same thing. If it can warp space (as it has been proved) it can warp time. We can see it warping light. Confusing i know, but very real.

  5. its pure speculation because they are exotic.  It's sci-fi

  6. This is science fiction.

It is partly based on the misconception that a black hole is an actual hole (that it must lead somewhere) and it is partly based on the work of a famous physicist names Hawkins came up with a hypothesis that black holes could be used to  skip outside of out universe/dimension.

Hawkins later concluded that he was wrong and that all matter entering a black hole would be torn apart beyond the point where it could be reassembled in any coherent way. Meaning that you can't use a black hole to travel either in time or between dimensions/universes.

  7. If I'm not mistaken, relativity falls apart in a blackhole, allowing the violation of relativity, which prevents time travel.

  8. Is that not worm holes?

  9. I'm 17 light years away from being an expert, but supposedly the black holes bend light which bring the starting and finishing points closer to one another.  This would make for a shorter trip, thus making space travel a distinct possibility.  Now, would it take you back in time, or let you go to the future and return to the present?  I'm not sure, but from what I've read, the answer is no.

  10. It is based on Einstein general theory of relativity:

"...matter and energy actually mold the shape of space and the flow of time."

    you can read more here:

    http://www.hyperhistory.com/online_n2/Hi...

The reason why black holes are considered to be the source of time travel is because they are so amazingly dense that their gravity field not only bends light, but sucks light into them (hence why they are called black holes). And if you read the first sentence it says that matter and ENERGY mold the shape of space and TIME.

So light is energy, and if light is being is being warped and manipulated then it stands to reason that time is being warped and manipulated.

The assupmtion however is not based on anything but a guess that can't really be disproved. So black holes are the only place in the universe where people can say that time travel might be possible.

Science fiction takes that fact and runs with it.

    Thanks for the fun question.

  11. First of all there is no such thing as time travel.  the word time to astronomers really is the light or information that people see.since light or imformation is sucked into a black hole if you were to go in it (and live) you would probubly be seeing light/information that is old so you would think that you were going back in time. but it is realy not actual time that is being affected remember that

  12. Sorry but they are wrong... If anything gets sucked in the huge gravity would crush it .

  13. Because of their immense gravity, not only they can warp space, but time as well.  Cause time can slow down due to the impossibly compact mass of the black hole.  Just as not only time slows down as you approach the speed of light, but your mass also increases.  And if you can push yourself close enough to the speed of light, you can be as dense as a black hole.  This allowed science fiction writers to write all sorts of stories involving time travel.
