Why are Bush allies who led their countries falling like flies??

  1. Being wrong and getting caught at it is usually fatal in politics.

    And Bush was as wrong as they come.


  2. I can speak about Australia. America still has our full support in Afghanistan, and I agree with the former and current governments with regard to that support. The main reasons our country changed government in 2007 was mostly due to 'cyclical governance' factors. Like most developed countries, we're quite stable and pretty clueless when it comes to politics. I think the people just felt that the gov't had had its day, did what it did and it was time for a change. The new gov't campaigned on a platform of being quite similar in a lot of areas, just less jaded and tired and a bit more inclusive, multi-lateral, hip to climate change, education and against the war in Iraq.

    That's why they won. They chose the hot point issues which resonated and they flogged a man who said he was going to retire a few years before...and didn't.
