Why are Canadians So Pathetic At Sports? Maybe it should be Can-Nada.? READ FIRST AND THEN COMMENT?

Only yesterday Canada won it's first medal at the Onlympics. Before that Tajikistan has one. Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan each have won two while Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan have combined for nine. Canada? Nothing.

Togo, with 5.8 million people, has won one, the first in that country's history. Canada, with 33.3 million people and the host of the 2010 Winter Olympic Games, has been shut out.

This is all Canadian media could write about Canada's achievements when it finally won it's first medal:

"That's one for us,'' a Toronto Star writer crowed. "We're now tied with Tajikistan in the medal count. Molsons for everybody!''

Even with at least one medal is now tied with Togo, Vietnam and Ecuador, among others, for 42nd place in the medal count.

A Canadian jounalist was writing about how foreign media were making fun of him. American journalist were busy covering news made by their athelets and Canadian journalist were doing nothin. Here is the link:

332 and no medals until a day ago, what a stunning display of ineptitude

U.S. swimmer Michael Phelps alone had won six gold medals by Friday, equalling the entire output of the Canadian Olympic team, all sports combined, from the 2000, 2004 and 2008 Games.

Why do Canadians not even care about sports, nobody focuses on training them.

How pathetic a smaller country like Australia and UK have many more golds than a bigger country like Canada.

Why do Canadians not bother to support their atheletes and sponsor them and train them.

Most people think Donovan Bailey is an American. Canadian atheletes were busy shopping in Beijing rather than focusing on the games according to the Associated Press. Canadian atheles were coming late to events.

You are not even good at hockey anymore lost the last winter games at hockey. Most people say you are better at winter games, no you are still bad at that?

Shame on you Canada!

Perhaps your criticisms stand in contrast to what sports should be all about?  It's the quest for the gold that most people remember.  Not obtaining it.  This fixation on winning at all costs seems to be an affliction that plagues the US, Russia, China, Germany, & a few other countries that like to think winning is everything.  

I recall seeing the commercial on TV about the athlete that came in dead last with the help of his father holding him up as he was limping.  The message was: But he did finish.  I'm guessing not many people could relate to that.  

Perhaps the Americans with all their training & resources should do rather well, as that is what many of their citizens identify with.  I don't believe the Canadian culture feels the same way.

Because it's too d**n cold all the time to play sports.  Thats why they are good at hockey.  And the mullets probably weigh them down too.
