  1. Great question and an historical answer required! It is most likely due to being the headquarters when the British ruled Ireland; the British flag is the union flag (or union "Jack" as it is colloquially known) and thus Dubs were identified by non-Dubs/other Irish as tacitly co-operating with the British (whether they did or not). History tells us this was not necessarily the case (although there is no doubt that many Dubs put up with British occupation and sometimes did co-operate) but the action that resulted in the British withdrawal, the 1916 Easter Rising, began in Dublin and involved a majority of Dubliners.

  2. Its to do with the Union Jack, apparently us Dubs were the last ones to remove it from public show once we gained our freedom from the UK

  3. They are called Jackines because went the king of England came to visit Ireland well Dublin back in the 1900's. The Dubs lined the streets waving the British flag ( the union jack) greeting King George. From then on the Dubs were christen Jackines.
