  1. I think it's something to do with the Arabic word for 'tar' (which sounds like the word mummy i guess) which is what the mummies they found in Egypt looked like.

  2. haha thats a good question, but try 2 think that the word mummy as in Egyptian mummy as a totally different word. cas it is, its just spelt and said the same

  3. It is because the bodies are mummified.

  4. Because nothing better describes monstrous moms.

  5. Because they would have to have been daddified

  6. because Egyptians were scared of their Mummy;) whenever they would se a ghost or a mummified body, they would fear its their mummy., LOL

  7. several others have noted that the name mummies comes from the fact that the process that the bodies were embalmed is called mummification. you should also know that the definition of a mummy is - A mummy is a corpse whose skin and dried flesh have been preserved by either intentional or incidental exposure to chemicals, extreme cold, very low humidity, or lack of air when bodies are submerged in bogs..i think you should also know that Egypt is not the only place in history to have mummies.

  8. Mummies are a body embalmed or treated for burial with preservatives in the manner of the ancient Egyptians, a body well preserved.

This is the meaning of Mummies.

  9. They are swathed in preserving bandages to stop the body from decaying.this is called Mummified.[ kept intact..] Hence Mummies!

  10. The term is thought to come from the word ‘mummiya’ which is an Arabic word for bitumen or pitch.

When the Arabs invaded Egypt in the 7th century AD and discovered the tombs and their contents, they thought the dark appearance of the bodies, caused by the use of dark resins during the embalming process was actually because they had been dipped in bitumen.

So the word ‘mummiya’, and later mummy was used to describe them, hence mummification

  11. because they would have to be daddified to be called daddies but there mummified thats why they are called mummies i wish they had Egyptian Daddies that would be good if they did
