Why are English Rugby commentators so biased???

Did anyone else think that Eddie Butler and Brian Moore were rather biased commentating the England v Wales match on Saturday?

Me and my house mates (half English, half Welsh), agreed to listen to the match with mute on!!! I just which the BBC would either provide an option to turn off commentators, or simply employ commentators that tell us what's happening, rather than explaining their biased opinions!!

  1. That must have been tough. Listening to the game with mute on. Always has been very biased though towards England in any sport... I'm English, very English Rugby and its tires the c**p out me listening to it. They were just as bad with New England in the Superbowl on Beeb2 Sunday night. Its and obsession with the word England...

  2. Look...you need to understand the inherent superiority of the English.  We OWN the BBC.

We also OWN Twickenham.  The Millennium stadium was where our FA cup final was played and now it is ....somewhere in dole land!

We are not cruel people!  We are kind and sensitive and thoughtful...it is just that you Celts don't get the whole reality thing.  There's nothing wrong with being a 'hanger on'!  We can't help what we are born as!  What could be fairer than that?

  3. there all biast because there english

  4. Eddie Butler is betraying his roots!

  5. gggggggggrrrrrrrrrrrrrr Don't get me started on this one !!!!!

I've taken to watching on S4C, I don't understand what their saying half the time but anything to get away from the

"Butler & Moore England butt kissing show"

I'd love to meet Eddie Butler just to smack him one and remind him he's WELSH!!!!!!

Brian Moores just as annoying but at least he IS!!!! English,

Wouldn't it be great to have him and Jiffy do the commentries ??

They'd be just as biased as each other but the niggling between them would be great !!!

  6. Eddie Butler is Welsh.

  7. Brian Moore is a dimwit. He was cr@p as a player and is cr@p as a commentator.

    BBC = Bloody Bad Commentators

  8. Biased commentary is not the sole domain of the English. We have our share of them in New Zealand to. A couple of years ago Brian O'Driscoll scored a classic "out of the text-book" try for Ireland against the All Blacks and all our commentators talked about ,both when he scored it and for weeks afterwards, was how Maa Nonu was out of position.

The try came about through slick one touch passing from the half-back and five-eights (which took the loose forward cover defence out) , a dummy runner (who took Nonu out ), and giving the worlds best centre  good front foot ball . It was a try that should be shown in all coaching videos.

And ALL, repeat ALL , our commentators and newspaper coloumnist's  whinged about it.

  9. I think they should bring in commentators from all the countries involved and , just as the referees aren't allowed to cover their own nations matches , the same should go for commentators. It's not just rugby that has this problem. Can you imagine what the Olympics are going to be like?

  10. You're half Welsh and think Eddie Butler is English?

He was the captain of Wales.

He's a bit of an idiot, but hardly biased.

  11. i love the passion.  My favourite biased story is when colin jackson won gold at the world games and broke the world record.  I can't remember the commentators name but he spoke about the english 110m runner for about 5 minutes because he came third and broke the english record, then spent about 2 seconds informing us that some BRITISH guy won.  which i suppose is correct when you look at the word welsh and briton ( welsh = anglo saxon meaning foreigner, cymru= celt word meaning fellow briton)  so when they call us british there correct because they (english) are sasanegs and not from round eer in it.

  12. I find the commentary embarrassingly arrogant and biased also. And I'm English!

  13. I agree.

Their commentary was a bit suspect at times, but I can excuse that as I was listening to two of the games greats.

  14. There's a difference between bring biased, and just being bad commentators.

btw, if you watch on a digital tv, you can usually choose a different audio - sometimes the referee's mic. or last week you could have had BBC radio Wales commentary over the pictures... great listening to the teams described as 'us' and 'them'. Even the inept Butler doesn't manage that (probably because he's not sure which he is....)

  15. Its a problem with the BBC, bad in both rugby and football.

  16. I completely agree. When Thomas was lying unconcious with blood coming from his nose, the only thing they were interested in was Vainikolo coming on!

Worst thing is the bias of the national papers! I live in London and bought the Mirror on Sunday and there was absolutely nothing in there about Wales. There was one spread on the rugby and they hadn't even scored Wales' players!

The London papers are just as bad. The free ones (metro, London Lite etc), since Wales' win on Saturday they simply don't exist! There are team updates on all the other squads!

I'm also getting annoyed about the press calling it England's 'humiliating' defeat! Come on, Wales are hardly rugby nobodies. It's only the arrogance of the English that makes it humiliating, because they can't bear to lose to us. And let's face it, they didn't just lose to Wales, they lost to a provincial Neath team!

Come on Italy! Now that would be humiliating!!

  17. The English own BBC, and they are commenting on their nation's team. It happens all the time. They could tone it down some.

  18. It's not just rugby. Trust

  19. Well you always expect some bias for the country the commentator is from but the extremes BBC goes to is just ridiculous. In rugby they ignore the team england are playing aginest and just concentrate on how unlucky the english are or how much the ref is aginest them. In formula one you get "Lewis Hamilton qualified 3rd". wtf what about the people who qualified 1st and 2nd, should'nt you mention them first. Of course what can you expect BBC is english

  20. Cos they are English,

If you had Welsh commentators on TV, would they not be biased to?

  21. Brian Moore is a t**t. When we played England he was so stubborn talking to Keith Wood, he jst wouldn't budge when asked who would win (of course he said England) He said, i quote "I can see England having a sneaky win today" And he ate his ******* words, who won? Ireland! haha, up yours Brian Moore! With loadsa Irish love, mwah! haha

  22. they're both rubbish commentators. My favourite commentator is Stuart Barnes...his diction is clear and his words flow like poetry

  23. The strange thing is Eddie "I wish I was English" BUTLER ACTUALLY is   WELSH!

He captained Wales-very badly-in the early 80's..........they must have been bad times for Wales to choose this w@nker!!!!!!!!!

Brian Moore is so thick, it is unbelievable........he gets players names (unless they are English) wrong all the time and at one stage during the E v W game he got so confused, he actually thought that, when Gethin Jenkins, a previous captain, who replaced Adam Jones, may take over the captaincy of Wales from Ryan Jones!

    WTF?

Eddie Butler is just as bad!

The conversation went summit like this:

BM: Adam Jones is leaving the field and Jenkins is coming on....so who will be the captain now then?

    Long pause............

    EB: I don't know.........

    another pause

EB: Ryan Jones is the captain!

SACK these two inept tw@ts ASAP along with Inverdale!

My soapbox belongs to mrsg in the RTV section, but had to use it for this question!

    EDIT:

ROBERT C.........take plenty of tissues and have a good ole english w@nk........you need one;-)

squirt for england hunny.........squirt for england!
