I think different countries have different definitions for bed sizes.  "Twin", "Full", "Queen" and "King" are different in various countries.

Probably for the same reason that pillows & pillow cases are different sizes in Germany, Austria & Italy! AGH!

I did not know that , probably because we cut them in centimeters and not in inches !

I didn't know they were. But maybe it explains the first every argument I had with my (French) girlfriend. It was about which way to put the sheets on the bed. I just couldn't figure out what she was on about.
