Its not anybody fault in modern day society  that Gae;ic Football and Aussie Rules are compared.

It was back in the 1800's when Irish tourists and settlers to Australia watched Australia's great game being born that these Irish said that the 2 sports are alike.

I have never watched a Gaelic Football game, I would love to but there is no TV broadcast for it. And also just think about this.

The AFL has brought in so many ex Irish Gaelic Footballers and now they are household names because most of these guys knew the basics of the game because of the similarties.  Tagdh Kennelly (check spelling) for Sudney, Colm Beagley for the Brisbane Lions, Jim Stynes (retired)

As I was looking at Wikipedia for this, there was a comparasson table. There are some things different but there are a lot of things that are the same as well.

I guess if that's your opinion, I have no right to judge you on it. I like aussie rules, but that is because that is the main sport in WA and, well, I've been brought up on it. Both are good in their own rights, and you are right, they shouldn't be compared. But anyway, you shouldn't worry, if you like that sport, who cares what anyone else thinks, right?

i suppose that's why all the Irish players are leaving in their droves to come over here and play AFL,or maybe its only the ones that have any balls and are sick of the namby pamby girly game you play over there-we gave you guys a bit of a smack around the ears in the last international rules series and you took your ball and went home,never to play again :(

I have watched both games, several all-Ireland finals and Aussie Rules for 25 years. There is a reason that Australia wins the International Rules series most years. Footy is a better game. You must be from Ireland. I am a Yank and I can see which is the better game. Footy, no question.

How can you say Gaelic is superior to Aussie Rules football??

Gaelic is played with a round ball - just like women's netball!

The players carry on like soccer players & are always falling on the ground faking injury to try & con the umpire in giving them a free kick.

The Gaelic game is free of physical contact - & one only has to see how they carry on when the Aussies dish out a bit of body on body - they scream blue murder; their coach cries foul; their media does a back flip & their governing body spits the dummy & says they wont play the Aussies anymore coz they are too rough.

What a mob of girl's blouses, are these Irishmen. I thought they had more balls than what they display on the Gaelic sports field!!!
