Why does rock band cost so bloody much to us english folk. I read on wikipedia "On April 8, 2008, EA announced a timed Xbox 360 exclusive for a partial European launch, with other versions to follow later in the summer. The pricing is set at £50/€70 for the game software and £130/€170 for an "Instrument Pack" (only the guitar, drums and microphone); the £180/€240 outlay required for the complete game package is more than double the $170 American RRP, at $375, causing anger among gamers." So what are they playing at?

  1. Cos most of us british will stand there in the queue and pay that much.

though at nearly half the cost of a console( or more than  consoel, depending on what you get it on) it is a bit absurd, hopeuflly people might boycott it ti lthe price goes down, vote wiht our feet and all that stuff.

an amercian was whinign other day how the 80GB is too much at $499, thats £250 at current conversion, the cheapest here is £300.

I think apart form Harmonix beeen US based, so a bit of favortism, theres jsut cos hte Us economy is too pot so they ownt sell huge amount over there if its too expensive, but Uk buyers can vaguelly afford that amount.

  2. I guess that it's because they can!

The best thing is - don't buy it!

See if they get the message!

  3. Im getting Guitar hero instead its 200 euro dont know what it is in pounds but you get a bass guitar too!

  4. well fiurts thing u need know

thats messed   about that price. u know what u do right is buy it here in u.s lol

  5. VAT and Import Fees. Unless I'm mistaken, there's a 17.5% VAT assessed already to the RRP price of $375, which would be $65. In the United States, the tax is not added onto the product before sale, meaning in most states after tax, we pay closer to $192-$200 depending on location.

Then add import fees from the US to Europe, and you have a higher number. It's still more costly than it should be, which may have to do with various extra costs of European content (such as translating the game to various European languages), and certifying the downloadable content in all languages/ratings boards...And the price can seem "somewhat" justified.

Hopefully, in the future, EA/Harmonix can work harder on making the content, and the game cheaper. It's a fantastic game that Europeans should play and enjoy.
