  1. I have lived it Berkley California where there is an Indian restaurant every block.  Most of them are not good.  Most of them use cheap ingredient, and are quite dirty.  Most of these restaurants close down after 2-3 years.

But the Indian restaurants in Berkeley that are good, are in fact excellent!  In fact I lived in India for 6 months and never ate food as good as what I ate when eating at my favorite Indian restaurants in the San Francisco Bay Area.

The great thing about Indian food is the diversity of flavors.  So many different spices and sauces.  And if you are a vegetarian, no problem.  Since India is practically a vegetarian state the cuisine gives one so many vegetarian dishes to choose from.  The many flat breads are numerous.   And there is a aryuvetic balance when served food correctly.  And the prices are reasonable in general.

My favorite Indian Restaurants in the Bay area are "Kana Pena", in Berkeley (the one on Solano Ave), and Indian Oven in San Francisco (in the lower Height).

I am in France right now and can't find any good Indian food!  The French put meat in everything, and can't handel spice; the result is pitiful.

  2. because of its spicy food.

  3. Because Indian food and its use of spices results in unique and delicious dishes. India is also an exotic country and it gives people a chance to taste India without going through the expense of flying there. And lots of people love spicy food.

Some other things:  Indian food can be vegetarian or non-vegetarian. You can please more diners when they have options.

  4. Because it is so darn good!

  5. Because Indian food rocks.

  6. Exotic Cuisine

  7. Well, first, they have some of the best food throughout the world.  Simply typing this message makes my mouth salvate with thoughts of my fav childhood restaurant, Kizmat.

But more importantly, they are the second most populous nation in the world with over 800,000,000 more people than the third (that is more than the third, fourth and fifth most populous countries combined) and with a estimated total of 1.1 billion people.  Simple population statistics would suggest that with the great delicacies made by Indians and the large amount of Indians on Earth, that they could produce a large number of restaurants.
