  1. i live in kansas they so dumb here but they have like no education and we have years of school so they very dumb compared to us

  2. In Texas they start in late April... I fricken hate them.

They do seem to have oddly fast wings and out of focus vision...  I'm totally grossed out by their legs... ugh. They bounce off walls here too. They're just playful and pesky I guess.

  3. In Iowa and Nebraska we have them too. They're called May Beetles and June Bugs.... because i guess thats when they first mature. You probably see them a lot in July because all are mature at that point and haven't died yet. The larval stage is actually a grubworm, which lives for about 3-4 years underground, then undergoes complete metamorphosis into the adult beetle. The adult only lives about a few months. They are incredibly dumb lol. And i don't know the answer to that one.

  4. I live in Michigan & technically  they are called Mayflies.  Locally, we call them fishflies. They are found near the water & are the sign of a healthy lake.  A Mayfly only lives for 24 hours. Just long enough to mate. Then they lay their eggs on the water where they slowly sink to the bottom of the lake.  The next year, they hatch & rise to the surface, fly off & mate & the cycle begins again. They make excellent food for the fish, birds etc.

I live 1/4 mile from Lake St. Clair & they get so heavy in the air at night-they are attracted to the streetlights & storelights-they land all over the windows & the streets. Their wings glisten on the street at night.  They lay in piles beneath the streetlights & stink like dead fish.  They are swept up with brooms or squirted off with a hose in the mornings.  We even have a Fishfly Festival every July!!
