The Third Annual Latino Congresso started today at the Bonaventure Hotel.. John McCain and Barak Obama was originally listed as speaker, then "invited" and in the end their names were not on the final program at all.

Spanish Media was there, as was KTLA and the Associated Press.

The event opened with the leaders of the various groups outlining their agendas. The two main issues were Latino Voter Registration and Immigration. The have committed Five Million Dollars to getting Latinos registered to vote for the presidential election.

The speakers seldom used the term "Latino" constantly referring to "our community, our country, our world."

One speaker noted that "People do not say 'Latinos do not work,' they say 'they work and they take our jobs.'" The only problem with that, she claimed, was that "We are only taking the low paying ones."

Another speaker claimed "This is our country, we built it."

The first speaker stated that there were three challenges that any Presidential Candidate must address to win the Latino Vote - 1. Provide access to the candidate to Latino Leaders, 2. Make substantive proposals and 3. Make financial investments.

Nativo Lopez of MAPA spoke and said he new president must provide immigration reform within his first 100 days in office.

The leader of MALDEF spoke and said the new president must do four things his first 30 days in office.

1. Appoint a head of Homeland Security who will commit to not involving ICE in the 2010 census.

2. Sign and executive order stopping neighborhood raids.

3.Stop all 287G cooperation of local law enforcement with ICE

4. Appoint a Secretary of State who will work cooperatively with Mexico and Latin American Countries.

Other speakers called for the president to address "income inequality, criminalization of our communities, the war in Iraq and Global Warming.

They demanded an end to "indiscriminate attacks" on "their community and the end to the use of the term "illegal immigrant" as "no immigrant is illegal."

Outside a group of Americans waved the American Flag and help "Stop Illegal Immigration" signs. There were aggressively attacked by a group of foul mouthed young males on bicycles who tried to grasp their signs, and knocked over a flag. One was latter arrested for battery on an 80 year old American woman. (The "Elder Attackers" bicycle gang?)http://www.nomoreinvasion.com/forum/index.php?topic=3336.msg19754;topicseen#msg19754“{Another speaker claimed “This is our country, we built it.”

No, you had little or nothing to do with it. The USA was created and built on the east coast primarily by English settlers, starting in 1607 and leading to a revolutionary war and new nation from round 1776 to 1790. The formative events of the USA took place a long, long way from the American southwest, let alone California. And it took a long, long time to make a trip from one place to the other.

At the same time, you and your ethnic group were building Mexico and points south, with, even then, only a few thousand of you scattered around what would become part of the US later.

Few if any Mexicans were anywhere near the creation and building of the USA, and they played no part at all until a few thousand came into the US with the new territory after the Mexican War.

What do you think ????????

  1. The lesson in this Lax immigration enforcement enables enemy foriegn agents to exploit a system that was intended to welcome those who want to make better lives for themselves on OUR terms.

Article 4, Section 4 of the Constitution states clearly:  "The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion."  Let's start with that and bring our representives attention to this fact.

The U.S. is not a boarding house for the world.  The U.S is a sovereign nation, and it's time our reps started acting like it, and defending it.  It's also time our reps realize what the rest of us have already known about this mess they created and have let continue for far too long.

Lastly - Thankfully those organizations don't have a leg to stand on with these people also addressing their concerns regarding the Latino illegals being here.

  2. English settlers aren't the only ones who "built" this country.  They had a lot of free labor, but that's a whole other question. Whether people agree or disagree with the statement Mexican  American votes are important especially considering that by 2050 sociologist predict that they will be the majority....

  3. I think these people were talking about the legal American Citizens of Latino origin who are the ones that can vote. When I took the oath and became a citizen they told me I was as American as those who came in the Mayflower. I help build this country every day with my work, just as many others from many other places, MANY OTHER PLACES have done before me and many will after me. This is OUR country and this is OUR people too. Salud!

Our voice will have to be heard because we are too many to ignore.

  4. It didn't surprise me at all that the Latino leaders would demand what they demanded the future president to do for them.   This is how the Latinos have run their own countries( and look what grand jobs they have done!!!) They want the U.S. to be run exactly the same way so they could feel soooo much at home( the home that they risked their lives to flee from) with all the lawlessness, all the violence, all the poverty and everything else.

No, THE LATINOS DIDN"T BUILD THIS COUNTRY.  Yes, great amount of Latinos, after millions of immigrants of other ethinicities,   have done mostly hard labor work in the construction, farming, food, hospitality industries.  But that has very little to do with how U.S was created and how it

became what it is today.  ( I mean if cleaning houses, picking fruits and vegies, laying bricks could create a great nation, then these people would have gotten it right in their own countries)

Without the founding fathers' visions for the legal/financial/political structures of the nation,  this country

would have never been this place that attracts so many immigrants over generations to come and make their own lives here.

Without the generations of great minds

and brains who were able to establish in this country the foundation in the fields of

    science/technology/medicine/arts/socia... science....etc

U.S would have been a big cattle ranch with lobsters and abolone on the coasts.

These Latinos forgot onething, THEY ARE NOT THE ONLY ONES WHO DID HARD LABORS.  THE IRISH, THE CHINESE, THE ITALIANS, ALL DID WHAT THE LATINOS ARE DOING TODAY.

These Latinos are too full of themselves to see what are facts and what is illusion.

  5. Because they like to take whatever they can that doesn't belong to them including the credit for other people's work.

  6. because they think they know everything.  if they would get their history straight, they only owned a part of the US, not all of it.

Goodness if they did own all of it I guess America would be like Mexico....POOR.

I believe America has been established greatly, but if things keep going the way they are now, we aren't going to have nothing left!

    REPORT AND DEPORT

  7. I think they needed a guest speaker with the nads to call BS....

  8. Gosh I couldn't agree with you more. There needs to be more people like you to speak out.

War is a natural part of life. We fought for this land and won. Our ancestors are the ones who established it. That is exactly how they work. We have done better for ourselves and built a counrty that everyone else desire. They didn't have anyhting to do with it. They want to sit back and do nothing, then they want to come in and say they have a right to our hard work. BullSHIT

  9. I think that I can't stand identity politics, I am sick of the concept of "race," and I'm sick of people with common interests using terms like "we" and "our."     Identity group politics involve groups of people with similar interests banding together to form a majority so as to force a minority to cede property rights.     A majority of people decide they don't want to let certain other people get married, or decide they want everyone else to pay some of their bills, etc....

  10. This is all a lot of gobbledeegoop cooked up by Mexicans that feel they can take over the USA by merely over running us with masses of people.

Many American US citizens used to laugh at this. Not any more. They are pulling it off.

Our fabulous government is helping them do it. By not enforcing the laws, by endorsing with our tax dollars groups like LaRaza, Mecha and Lulac and others.

US citizens can scream their brains out how they don't want illegals or Mexicanos here in this country but it does little or no good. Why? I can only guess. But the fact is, our country is very quickly becoming Mexican.

LA in California is a good  example of what to expect. The city is broke. 50% of the people living there are illegals ...mostly Mexicanos. HUGE drug and crime, gang banger types of problems. Graphiti everywhere you look. I mean EVERYWHERE.

This IS Mexico today ...and it will soon be the same, compliments of those who come from South of our border to escape their own failures ...to become/assist in creating OUR failures.

It's OUR fault for doing nothing about this. THEIR plan to do ...our failure for not stopping it.

Thank your congress people and house leaders for their failure to act or protect. Our recent Presidents have done much to help this failure along as well.

Our new Presidential prospects will apparently encourage this as well.

  11. Any legal citizen of the USA has the right to say "This is our country and we built it."
