The Liberalese and their Feminista cohorts exemplify a mass movement/herd mentality.  It's natural for the sheep to graze.

I've thought about that before... and I think it stems from the evolution of the idealism from the 60's that has transitioned over to modern day.  More could be written on that, but in general, that's my opinion.

Interesting question.

I've noticed this trend too, and I think it has to do with an altruisticc perception of the world.

Liberals and feminists are less likely to put their own needs first and therefore consider others when making decisions.

As a feminist, I don't feel it is necessary for me to participate in the meat industry because I have educated myself on the labour and human rights violations, the environmental impact and public health issues surrounding it.

Though being a liberal and feminist is not specifically related to food choices, both tend to signify a general interest in social and political issues or at least that the person has a strong social conscience.

This does not mean that all vegetarians are liberal and/or feminists or the other way around, but that they are all related to the variable of being aware and interested in the world around you.

Aside from that... It's not just Liberals and Feminists. Some very dedicated conservationists are hunters. They understand nature from a predator's perspective: the environment has to be preserved, or that will not only affect one's own health, but the health of one's food. In this case, animals.

I don't know. Maybe because both tend to be more engaged in social awareness than conservatives. Campaigning for the rights of others...women, minorities, g*y people...also raises awareness about the rights of animals.

Liberals also tend to be more health conscious (witness the fact that in the U.S., obesity rates are much higher in the "red" states than the "blue" states).

The idealogies are based on doing things that are fair to all people.  So, they would be more likely to be sensitive to the horrors that happen to animals who are used by people for food.

Where exactly do you get your information from? If your answer is  'personal observations', you are wrong. It is simply not true. Why is it that individual's political views have to be an influence on what he / she eats or does not? You forget that we are all human, which means we all eat the things we enjoy, and being a liberal, feminist or a confused on this subject housewife does not have any affect on that.
