Question:

Why are Main Street businesses closed at night?

Where I live, all the Main Street shops close at 5 PM. People don't get off of work until 5 PM! That leaves (usually) Saturday as their only shopping day.

Why don't these small business owners open later in the day and stay open later when people can actually go in and shop?

  1. idk

  2. Because they are people just like you. They want to go home. Most likely, they've done the math, and they see that the cost of having people staff the store after 5pm doesn't pay itself back - ie, they don't make enough money after that time to pay for it.

Also - Jessie K is completely off base. Main street business employees include the owners. They run their business for money, but they don't also want to spend all day there. Nor do they want to hire managers (for when they aren't there) and other employees, when they won't make enough money to make up for it.

And how does Jessie know what generation I am from. Girl, you need to chill out, and quit hating. And Jessie - it doesn't normally get dark at 5. Good try though.
