    and humans make mistakes


  2. Let me ask you a question. Have you ever been an umpire?  It's a lot harder than it looks.

  4. They are human & maybe you should take a stab at being an umpire & then you will realize it not as easy as it looks

  5. They can't get every call right, instant replay would fix a lot of the controversy around umpires.

  6. Not only is it harder than it looks, but each fan's perception of an umpire's consistency is colored by how his calls affect that fan's team. An umpire who doesn't make calls that adveersely affect the team will be percieved as more consistent than one who who makes a call fans disagree with.

  7. They aren't so inconsistent. Of course, when umpiring in a Cubs game, they make calls favoring the other team. But that's all.

  8. Yup they are only human they do the best they can,thats why Instant Replay should be brought in so they aren't hated on so much on controversial calls.
