Why are Mexican boxers always picking on Pacquiao?

Pacquaio is always boxing them for some reason. People even call Pacquaio the "mexican killer" because he boxes so many Mexicans.

the TRUTH is, at theat weight class, and around Pacmans weight area are mostly latinos as they fight at lower weight classes. You never see an heavyweight down to prob middleweight latino. Pacquiao needs to step up to 140 and 147 to fight real fighters

I think it's all good fun in a way. Nobody really picks on him. It eggs on the potential buyers of a PPV.

There have always been racial rivalries in Boxing. There were great Jews, great Italians, great blacks, now the Russians are the big thing. Ever hear of the "Great White Hope"?

Some of the Boxing draw is racial. It think it's cool, like picking teams. When I went to a Mexican bar to watch De La Hoya vs Mayweather, needless to say, they (the Mexicans) cheered for De La Hoya, I cheered for Mayweather along with 2 or 3 blacks.

But look, when it was over, it was all cool. We ate and drank beer together, it was all in fun. It was like a party where we cheered different teams, and then hung out and talked about it.

I really had so much fun, and yes, it WAS racially charged. But when the show was over, we all had a good time.

It's like picking teams. OK, now the Russians are (except WBC Champion from Nigeria) the Heavyweight Champions. In America, we now want an AMERICAN Champion, white/black/brown etc makes no differance. It makes it excited.

To get to Pacquiao vs Mexicans, I think nearly ANY Mexican who meets Manny, would ask for an autograph, not talk smack about race.

It's not so much a racist thing as it is more like picking teams in a way. For instance, Lennox Lewis is a very nice humble man. If you go to his official myspace page and ask him something, he ALWAYS finds time for you, ALWAYS. I have a comment from him on my page, he rocks. He is a great man in every way. But when he was Champion, I wanted an American to drop him, lol. I wanted us to dominate again.

When the smoke clears, except for a few random morons, it's all in jest and to sell tickets. If they call Pac' "The Mexican Killer", anytime he fights a Mexican, Mexicans will pay to watch their "Great Mexican Hope" beat him. It is not his fault that most of the best fighters in the division are Mexicans and he wins.



I would not think about it alot because race in itself makes no difference. If you asked him, I would bet my bottom dollar he has the utmost respect to Mexicans, it's all a game.

But, hey, buy the tickets, watch the fights. Boxing is my favorite sport to watch. Just know it is all in fun and money, no real problem.

Tommorow great fight! Mexican boxers are not picking on paquiao he is just a great fighter and tomorow he will fight another great fighter which happens to be Mexican. There are many great Mexican fighters as you will see tommorow. Well paquiaio did loose to a mexican named Morales while he was at his prime (Morales) Simply the awnser is theres many great Mexican fighter and only one good phillipino boxer. Marquez is in his prime not like barrera and morales when paquaio won. I mean they were great boxers but they were already ready to retire. Tommorow he will face someone who is stronger and still in his prime. He also beat Barrera before paquiao.

it is a long standing rivalry....mexicans always say they have the best boxers, but pacquaio is called the mexican killer because he fights mexicans so well not because he is always fighting them...they have very distinct styles and he finds a way to pick them apart...his next fight is going to be amazing though

If you're a boxer in Pacquiao's weight class and want to fight the best opponents out there, you have to look to Mexico to find them.  

I don't know what's in Mexico's water, but that country produces an amazing number of the best boxers in the world.  It also produces some very tough taxi drivers, as Greg Haugen found out when he took on Julio Cesar Chavez.

Manny is not a "Mexican killer."  He's just one of the best fighters who ever fought, and not all Mexican fighters are in Marquez's class.

Because they realize that he is overrated and Marquez will prove this.

Not to mention the fact that Mexico has a storied history in the sport and is known for having a countless amount of warriors who are good faces for the sport. The Phil opines just simply doesn't measure up in boxing talent.
